It’s going to be Christmas time soon, which means a lot of parties and much more drinking. If you don’t want the usual Old Monk and Kingfisher dose, it’s time to stock up and make these delicious cocktails for your next X-Mas party. We promise, it’s going to be a hit with friends and fam!

Santa Clausmopolitan

Okay, I have to confess, I was swayed by the pun but also how yummy does this look? It’s just like a Cosmopolitan except it’s got a whole lotta cranberry juice and looks like it has a place in Santa’s North Pole home.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup vodka
  • 1.5 cup cranberry juice
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup cranberries for garnish
  • Lime wedge and sanding sugar for rim

Instructions:

  1. Use a lime wedge on the rim of each glass and then dip the glass in sanding sugar
  2. Pour vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, triple sec in a shaker filled with ice
  3. Shake well and pour into glassess
  4. Add cranberries and serve

Eggnog White Russian

There’s very little more Christmas-like than eggnog. The drink is synonymous with the holidays, but we’re never satisfied with just the same old. Here’s a combination of the classic eggnog and the well-loved White Russian. (If you can’t find eggnog in India, ask amreeka wale cousins to get some for you!)

What you’ll need: 

  • 60 ml vodka
  • 44 ml coffee liqueur
  • 60 ml eggnog
  • Ground nutmeg for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Pour vodka and coffee liqueur into a rocks glass and mix
  2. Pour eggnog on top and stir until mixed
  3. Add ice and sprinkle nutmeg on top
  4. Serve

The Grinch

If you’re not much of a festive person, we get it. It’s noisy, there’s way too much of chatter, random relatives show up out of nowhere – it’s all super annoying. Stir up this awesome cocktail for yourself, crawl into a blanket and get to Netflix-ing, I envy you.

What you’ll need:

  • 60 ml Midori
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • 1 tsp simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water)
  • Maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Pour in all the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice
  2. Shake well and strain into glass
  3. Garnish with cherry and serve

Christmas Mule

You’ve been thinking about making a Moscow Mule for you and your friends, and just having a great time. But what’s the point of X-Mas, if you can’t jazz everything up? The Christmas Mule has flavours of pear and cinnamon, and cuddles you with its warmth. Do you need anything else?

What you’ll need:

  • 44 ml pear vodka
  • 118 ml ginger beer
  • Cinnamon stick

Instructions:

  1. Add the ginger beer and vodka into a mug
  2. Heat for 10 to 20 seconds in a microvave
  3. Add cinammon stick and serve

Spiked Hot Chocolate

End your beautiful Christmas night with your loved ones, with some mouthwatering hot chocolate. I’m kidding, it can’t be just any hot chocolate, it’s definitely got to be boozy. If I were you, I’d be making this everyday but you can keep it exclusively for special occasions.

What you’ll need:

  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 3 tbsps crushed cinnamon sticks
  • 227 gms chopped semi-sweet chocolate
  • 3 tbsps granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 60 ml rum or bourbon
  • Toasted marshmellows for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. On a medium-low heat, in a medium saucepan, heat milk and cinnamon
  2. Simmer and keep whisking for 10 minutes, make sure milk doesn’t boil
  3. Whisk sugar, chocolate and salt in and cook
  4. Whisk till mixture is smooth and creamy (approx 5 minutes)
  5. Sieve into a large cup
  6. Add rum into hot chocolate, stir till mixed
  7. Pour into mugs, add marshmellows and serve hot
