What’s Halloween as an adult if not for a boozy, wild night filled with friends, scares, and spooky treats? Believe it or not, we’ve found a way to make your Halloween party (solo or horde) even better than last year with 5 Halloween cocktails that’ll chill you to the bone. (haha! get it?)

Morgue-A-Rita

We love puns, we love Halloween and most of all, we love us some tequila. So, Morgue-A-Rita seemed like the perfect choice for our Halloween party. There’s tequila, triple sec, and green goo running down the glass. Yum, right?!

What you’ll need (Serves 4): 

  • ½ cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup club soda
  • Âľ cup tequila
  • 89 ml triple sec
  • 4 cherries
  • 4 tsp maraschino cherry syrup
  • ÂĽ cup light corn syrup
  • Green food colouring

Instructions:

For the goo –

  • Mix the light corn syrup with food coloring. Add coloring little by little as you stir, till you see a color you like
  • Put the glasses in the freezer and frost. Pull them out once chilled, invert and dip them into green syrup, and stand them upright so that the syrup can drip
  • Put the glasses back in the freezer

For the drink – 

  • Skewer maraschino cherries with stirrers
  • Add lime juice, triple sec, and tequila into a shaker filled with ice and shake well
  • Pour 1 tsp cherry syrup into each glass, put in the skewered cherries
  • Carefully strain the cocktail mixture into a glass without disturbing the syrup at the bottom
  • Add club soda on top and serve

Absolut Masquerade

It looks like blood but it tastes goddamn delicious! Not only is it simple and easy to stir up, it gives your Halloween parties that extra gore that’s always needed. A mixture of vodka, black currant juice, and Chartreuse – it’s the perfect drink to channel some Dracula in.

What you’ll need:

  • 44 ml Absolut
  • 60 ml black currant juice
  • 15 ml Chartreuse

Instructions:

  • Stir all the ingredients in a glass filled with ice
  • Strain into a cocktail glass and serve

The Black Friday Cocktail stands out in the list of Halloween cocktails and is perfect for those whose souls are just as dark. It mixes some earthy flavors with activated charcoal to make a drink that looks like it’s come straight from the pits of hell!

What you’ll need:

  • 44 ml vodka
  • 30 ml beet juice
  • 15 ml lime juice
  • 15 ml honey ginger syrup
  • 350 mg activated charcoal
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions:

  • Shake all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice
  • Pour the cocktail into a coupe glass, over 1 large cube of ice

How could we not pay an ode to one of the OGs of horror fiction and poetry? Edgar Allan Poe wrote quite a few eerie pieces, the most prolific of which is The Raven. Don’t worry though, this drink won’t replicate the feeling of impending doom of the poem. Instead, it promises to be a delicious savior if you’re spending your Halloween curled up with some Poe.

What you’ll need:

  • 6 fresh blackberries
  • Mint leaves
  • 44 ml white rum
  • ½ cup cranberry juice

Instructions:

  • Mash 3 blackberries in a shaker, then mix them with 3 mint leaves
  • Add in the rum and ice, then shake till chilled
  • Pour into wine goblet and add cranberry juice on top
  • Add sugar to taste if you feel the need
  • Skewer the remaining 3 blackberries on a bamboo pick and lay on top of the glass
  • Garnish with mint and serve
