Now, I’m not a huge fan of marketing ploys that make zero sense but somehow KFC’s latest marketing tactic has me intrigued. They’ve created three cocktails that are already iconic, but mixed with the gravy that’s gotten them their renown.

KFC recently released a series of videos where mixologist Patrick shows you how to create The Gravy Mary, The Finger Lickin’ Sour and The Southern Twist in your own home. If you can get your hands on some classic KFC gravy, now’s the time!

I, like the rest of the world, am a huge fan of all drinks sour and this one sounds legit irresistible to me. It’s got mezcal, cherry liqueur, lemon juice, orange marmalade and an egg white. Although it might sound incredibly hard to make, what with all the elements, it actually is super easy once you have the ingredients at hand.

What you’ll need:

  • 100 ml KFC gravy
  • 400 ml mezcal
  • 15 ml cherry liqueur
  • 25 ml lemon juice
  • 10 ml orange marmalade
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 1 egg white
  • Thyme sprig as garnish

Instructions:

  1. Combine mezcal and gravy in a glass. Cover the glass and shake well
  2. Freeze this mixture for 3 hours
  3. After freezing, strain the mixture through a clean cloth and strainer into a glass
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients into the mixture and shake
  5. Pour into a glass and serve with thyme sprig

The simplest of the lot but looks the fanciest – this cocktail has a whole lot of Kentucky bourbon and hot gravy mixed together to create probably the most popular cocktail of the lot. It also has a parsley and brown sugar rim so that every sip is well seasoned and magical.

What you’ll need:

  • 50 ml Kentucky bourbon
  • 60 ml hot KFC gravy
  • 2 grinds black pepper
    For rim:
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 4 tsp dried parsley

Instructions:

For rim:

  1. Mix chopped parsley and brown sugar in a bowl
  2. Cut lemon in half and coat rim of glass using it
  3. Dip the rim in the parsley-brown sugar mix

For cocktail:

  1. Pour in Kentucky Bourbon into a glass and add ice cubes
  2. Pour the KFC gravy on top and serve
