Stranger Things Inspired Cocktails That Will Make You Fall In Love With The Show Even More

October is the month where they can truly celebrate all things odd and scary, be it through getting dressed up as ghouls, scary make-up or themed parties. Netflix decided to take Halloween fever a notch higher by blessing us with all the episodes of Stranger Things season 2! So we thought, why not welcome the gang back through a series of drinks inspired by the now-iconic show!

Justice for Barb

Of course we had to put Barb at the top of the list. She never got her due on the show and died an untimely death but she stole every fan’s heart. So she definitely deserves at least a drink to her name. A beautiful blend of apple, cinnamon and bourbon, this cocktail is perfect for October and a long night of season 2 binge-watching.

What you’ll need: 

  • 1.5 parts Coopers’ Craft Bourbon
  • .5 part Apple Brandy or Apple Jack
  • 1 part raw simple syrup
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 lemon slice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 parts boiling water

Instructions:

  1. In a coffee mug or tall pousse-café glass, muddle orange, lemon, and simple syrup
  2. Add Coopers’ Craft Bourbon and Apple Brandy to the glass, stir to combine
  3. Add boiling water and a cinnamon stick right before serving

Eleven

Eleven – the young girl who changed the course of the entire story with her superpowers and charisma – was the definitely the star of the show and this drink is sure to be the star of all your parties Gin, Strega and fresh lemon juice mixed with ginger simple syrup and club soda, this cocktail is super sweet with some extra kick (just like Eleven!).

What you’ll need: 

  • 45 ml Bristow Gin
  • 15 ml Strega
  • 30 ml lemon juice
  • 30 ml ginger simple syrup (a mixture of sugar, water and ginger)
  • 60 ml club soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • candied ginger for garnish

Instructions: 

  1. Combine all ingredients except club soda into a shaker
  2. Shake with ice for 30 seconds
  3. Add club soda to shaker
  4. Pour into Collins glass with ice
  5. Garnish with candied ginger

Eleven’s Obsession

A tribute to Eleven and her undying love for Eggos (an unlikely yet endearing duo), this drink will make you go ‘woah’. Who would have thought the bold flavour of bourbon could compliment the warmth of waffles so well?

What you’ll need: 

  • 60 ml Bourbon Whiskey
  • 20 ml pure maple syrup
  • 1 whole organic egg
  • 1 dash chocolate bitters
  • 1 half Eggo waffle

Instructions: 

  1. Combine the bourbon, maple syrup, whole egg, and dash of bitters into a cocktail shaker without ice and shake
  2. Open the cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake for another 10-15 seconds to chill.
  3. Double strain the cocktail
  4. Toast 1 Eggo waffle until golden brown and crispy. Cut it in half and set on top of the coupe glass.

Demogorgon

It’s Halloween and that’s when you let out your inner demons. What better way than to pay homage to the monster that terrorized our sweet Stranger Things kids and took our beloved Eleven from us? This malty, chocolatey, and bold drink is everything you’ll need to cower behind when the Demogorgon makes its return (hey, we’re just guessing!).

What you’ll need: 

  • 30 ml Evan Williams Black bourbon
  • 30 ml Pimm’s No. 1
  • 22 ml stout syrup
  • 8 ml Cynar
  • 2 dashes Bittermens Xocolatl Mole Bitters
  • Garnish with a bourbon cherry on a skewer

Instructions: 

  1. Combine ingredients in mixing glass and stir with ice until well chilled
  2. Strain into a coupe glass
  3. Garnish with a skewered bourbon cherry

Okay, you gotta love Joyce. Although she started off as a pretty conventional parent character, she’s come a long way. She’s strong, fierce and powerful with an equally fierce love for her kids, and so is the cocktail that’s inspired by her.

  2. Strain into a martini glass or enjoy over ice
