The Pitfalls Of Going Out Clubbing

A lot of us enjoy the occasional night out where the liquor flows throughout the night and you make good use of the dancefloor. The music is great, the food is great and your social life is great too. But there are so many drawbacks to going out that sometimes you contemplate whether staying home was the way to go instead.

The crowd: You’ve left the solace of your calm home to step into a nightclub that looks like it’s housing the entire city. You can’t walk without saying ‘sorry’ multiple times and there are people who are bumping and grinding up against you without even wanting to. Things are somehow worse for shorter people who get taken away by the sea of people. If you’re short, please forget meeting your friends for the next 2 hours but don’t worry, they’ll eventually find you sitting in a corner, contemplating life.

The price: However affluent you are, drinking out, especially after 11 can put a massive hole in your pocket. Not to mention the jerks who suddenly start feeling hungry in the club when you’d offered them Maggi at home. Now you’re stuck ordering masala peanuts that come at the price of your limbs and sipping drinks that you could have made at home but didn’t. We’re sending you all the luck for when you finally check your balance tomorrow morning.

The DJ: If you wanted to listen to abruptly switched music with no transitions whatsoever, you could have just stayed at home with an AUX cord. And honestly, what’s with the need to talk in between? No one wants to hear the DJ lower the volume of a good song to say ‘Come on, let’s party, people!’ We were partying till you interrupted us, good sir. And we all get that you can’t take requests but could you please not play ‘Balam Pichkari’ 5 times in 1 hour?

The strangers: Look, if we had wanted to talk to you when we’re out dancing with our friends, we wouldn’t have been pretending to have something very important to look at in the opposite direction. There are days when we just don’t want to socialise with folks we don’t know or maybe we’re just not interested, but saying ‘bye’ every time a person approaches us should be hint enough. This wouldn’t have happened if we’d just stayed home.

The embarassment: Imagine getting so high that you end up passed out in the bathroom. It doesn’t sound so bad when you’re amongst friends in the privacy of your house, but it’s a horror story when it’s happening in front of hundreds of people you don’t know. The drunken fighting, the attempts to hook up with the person you like, the tripping and grievously injuring oneself – all are going to give you truckloads of embarrassment in the morning solely because there were so many people watching this all go down.
