We don’t know if you were alive back in 1971 when the movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna hit the silver screens across India, but it became a hit. But the song “Dum Maro Dum” from this film has its own fan base. If you are gen Z, then you were probably thinking about the 2011 film starring Abhishek Bachchan. You see, too many cocktails could give you a terrible hangover, but watching that movie could give you permanent brain damage. Anyway, as per one notable reviewer, this song was a blend of creaking synthesizers, psychedelic guitars, and Asha Bhosle’s vocals. The drink we are writing about is also a winning blend of vodka, cranberry, pineapple juice, and flavored smoke. You could already imagine its sweet and tangy flavor. Just like the song, this one will also stay on your mind.

2. Yaariyan At Mitron

You might like the 2014 movie Yaariyan if you are someone who acted in it or if you are the parents of the lead actors. Either way, we are sorry for you. While the movie was worse than a teenager’s TikTok, it did have some good moments. It had this one song that was stupid, but catchy- “aaj blue hai paani paani.” If Yaariya did anything, it made us think about our friends and the good times we have with them. This is what this drink wanted to put in your glass. It has tequila, an alcohol that’s always present on a table surrounded by happy faces. Fresh orange and lime juice add that tangy wholesomeness. There’s also a special ingredient, lavender syrup. It not only smells like a dream, but it tastes amazing as well. A bar named “Mitron” just had to have a cocktail named “Yaariyan” and we love it.

3. Thai Maalish At Socials

Now this one is a little hard to get. But it is taken from the hit old song “Sar Jo Tera Chakraye.” In this, the actor Jhonny Walker roams the streets of South Bombay offering head massages to random people. He starts the song by saying the immortal words “Maalish! Tail Maalish!” We are a little thankful that coconut oil is not actually used in this cocktail. But they have used the next best thing, coconut water! There’s also kaffir lime, gin, basil, and lemongrass. This is one is perfect for relaxing and chilling out cause it will calm you down! Just like a head massage from Jhonny Walker would.

Bollywood has given us two hit comedy films of the same name and both were helmed by superstars of their era. Just like the movies, this is a hit cocktail made using superstar drinks, Jose Cuervo tequila, and Segredo Aldeia white rum. They are further joined by an interesting cast made of tangy orange juice and cranberry juice along with deliciously sweet coconut syrup. Oops, we almost forgot about the flavorsome coffee rum. Okay! Fine! We racked our brains for way too long but we honestly don’t know why exactly they named the drink after this movie. But one thing is sure, we would happily be a gulam of this enticing drink.

5. Laila At True Tramm Trunk

True Tramm Trunk has a Tharra cocktail menu dedicated to various regions of India. Let us tell you, they have gone totally desi here. Out of the many cocktails, our favorite is Laila! We mean come on! The name itself has a mischievous and flirty aura to it. Just like all of the hot lailas that Bollywood has blessed us with. Lucky for all of us, there have been many lailas in our films, but the original was Zeenat Aman! For some reason, this drink has gone all Bihari and we love it. It has the zing you expect from a drink like this cause it is Sprite plus vodka that’s infused with mawa. Yeah! Then they went ahead and added gulkandh to it. Who was the mixologist here? Sanjeev Kapoor! You just have to try it, there’s really nothing like this out there.

Timing: Varies as per the location

Address: BKC, Bandra (east). Vaishali Shopping Centre, Vile Parle (west), and Raheja Vihar, Powai

Rates: Around INR 450

Summing Up

It’s not like anyone needs a reason to buy cocktails, but the fact that there are Bollywood-inspired cocktails In Mumbai is exciting. We hope this becomes a trend and other bars also start doing it. We would love a cocktail named “Omkara,” that’s stone-hard whisky with tequila. “Bhramastra,” a cocktail that has all kinds of colorful liqueurs but doesn’t taste that good. Wow, we could do this all day!
