4 Cocktails Invented by Celebrities

We go about every weekend sipping on cocktails, feeling just tipsy enough sip after sip. There are a few cocktails out in the world that have been invented by our idols. If Simon Cowell had invented a cocktail, I would have tried it just to see what his mind had cooked up. You might feel the same, so here are 4 cocktails invented by celebrities.

1. The Murricane

Invented by actor Bill Murray at The Anchor, New York after he wandered off in search of a much-needed drink, this cocktail was named by his Ghostbusters co-star Dan Aykroyd based on Murray’s extreme mood swings.

Muddled basil leaves and watermelon, bourbon and St-Germain elderflower liqueur mixed with ice and lime juice make this cocktail a hit. This cocktail is garnished with black pepper and a watermelon wedge.

2. David Bowie

The very famous singer and songwriter David Bowie tried his hands at mixology once upon a time. He named one of his successful drinks after him. All one needs is bourbon and chocolate liqueur, and a wedge of orange for garnish.

We should make one in his remembrance, shouldn’t we?

3. The Hemingway

Renowned writer Ernest Hemingway created this strong cocktail, also called Death in the Afternoon, by pouring absinthe into a Champagne flute and slowly adding chilled Brut Champagne to it until it started to cloud up.

It is one of the strongest cocktails available at bars.

4. Red Needle

Singer and songwriter Leonard Cohen invented this summer cocktail by mixing tequila, cranberry juice and a slice of lemon together. It is served in an ice filled stem glass usually. The taste reminds one of a less-sweet Cosmopolitan cocktail.

This cocktail goes really well with smoked meat sandwiches.
