Halloween is right around the corner – okay, it’s almost a week away but that doesn’t stop us from getting unreasonably excited. This festival celebrates all things spooky, ghoulish, bloody and gory, and that makes it one of the only days we look forward to in a year. If, like us, you love the spirit of Halloween and also happen to enjoy beer, this is the listicle for you!
The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA – Terrapin
The zombie show (previously a comic) that took over every television screen when it started and still continues to do so with its latest season released recently, has an official tie-in with Terrapin Beer Company. The result? The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA, which is citrusy and has one of the coolest artwork I’ve ever seen on a beer bottle. Let this calm you while your blood boils over Negan’s return this season.
Nosferatu Imperial Red Ale – Great Lake Brewing Co.
If there’s anything we love more than binge-watching new horror movies, it’s rewatching the cult classics over and over again. Nosferatu is one such movie – a cheap rip-off of Dracula that still made waves and continues to be a favourite of any horror fan. So imagine our surprise when we discovered this stunning red beer inspired by the vampire movie that also happens to have an 8% ABV (alcohol by volume).
Dead Guy Ale – Rogue Ales
While this spooky looking ale is available throughout the year, Rogue Ales put a unique twist to the beer during Halloween. They make it glow-in-the-dark, so that your Halloween party is truly lit! The German Maibock craft beer tastes caramel-like and bitter-sweet, so there’s really nothing to complain about.
Black O’Lantern – Wasatch Brewing
The label is creepy, it’s black in colour and it tastes like pumpkin. Yep, Black O’Lantern could possibly be the best thing to happen to us this Halloween. An Imperial stout flavoured with pumpkin sounds great and you get to watch a haunted Jack O’Lantern laugh at you while you chug. It doesn’t get any more Halloween-y than this.
Camp Braggot Ghost Stories – Cigar City/B. Nektar
It’s summer time, you’re sitting with your friends around a campfire and start telling ghost stories. While most of you are unnerved about setting camp near a graveyard, you start noticing that all of you are getting picked off one by one. Creeped out? Well, that’s the story we spun up once we saw this wonderful, rare lager brewed with honey. The best part though is that you can taste marshmallow, chocolate, coconut, tea and white oak in this lovely concoction. We want it, and we want it now.
