5 Liquor-Dessert Pairings To Make The Most Of Christmas Leftovers

As declared by me, it’s a sin to celebrate Christmas without desserts. Whether it’s home-made fruit cake or bakery-made tarts, these sweet snacks are an integral part of a Christmas routine. Since Christmas has gone by, some of you will have delicious leftovers. Pair them with these liquors to make the most of all the sweet treats you had!

1. Champagne with Berry Tarts

The smooth texture of champagne is highly complemented by the flavour of baked berry tarts. The semi-sweet taste of the drink and the berry flavour of the tart prove to be a delightful and delectable experience.

2. Bourbon with Bread Puddings

A neat peg of bourbon goes with bread puddings quite excellently. The creamy and crunchy texture of bread puddings highlights the aroma and flavour of bourbon, resulting in a satisfactory dining experience. You can also pair bourbon with pies since the texture of puddings and pies is somewhat similar.

3. Red Wine with Dark Chocolate Pastries

When combined, the pleasant bitterness of the dark chocolate and red wine makes for a deliciously well-balanced treat. The trick here is to savour every sip and bite by taking small bites of the pastry followed by a sip of the wine.

4. Light Beer with Salted Caramel Cookies

A pint of chilled lager or any other light beer with salted caramel cookies can turn any bad day into a great one! The combined flavour of the two leaves a lasting aftertaste, leaving you wanting more after every sip and bite. So, pop that beer open and settle down in front of the TV with some cookies by your side.

5. Dark Rum with Fruit Cakes

Home-made or bakery-made, it doesn’t matter. What matters is how well dark rum goes with fruit cakes. You need to try it yourself to understand the hue and cry around it! The flavours are so perfect together that many people soak their fruits in rum before adding it to the cake batter.
