While I sit in the blistering heat of Mumbai, all I can do is dream about being surrounded by the sea. And while I neither have a vacation or the money to afford it, maybe you do. And if you do, you should definitely be checking out these floating bars that’ll make any vacation that much more special.
The Island, Sydney
Sydney’s known for its parties, and great on-land pubs but did you know there’s an exclusive floating bar called The Island, that accomodates only a couple hundred people? Cocktails, the sea all around you, music and a great crowd will greet you here. So if you can get on the list, you better be here.
Jicoo Floating Bar, Tokyo
How cool does this look already? If your next trip is to Japan, the Jicoo Floating boat bar should be a must visit. It travels from Hirode Pier to Odaiba, and even has live music on Saturday nights, so your weekend is already planned. And just imagine the breathtaking view you’re in store for.
Cloud 9, Fiji
If you’re headed to Fiji, firstly, I’m extremely jealous, and secondly, you can’t afford to miss out on Cloud 9. The cream of the crop when it comes to floating bars around the world, Cloud 9 is a unique 2 storey platform off Mamanuca Island where you get the best view, the best drinks and the absolute best pizza.
The Houseboat Grill, Jamaica
Jamaica has a lot of things going for it – the culture, the scenic beauty, the food and to top it all off, it’s also got The Houseboat Grill. Located in Montego Bay, this stunning bar has been graced by many a iconic musician including Aretha Franklin and Sting for performances. It once used to be a nightclub in the 1970s but still has not lost any of its charms.
Grand Banks, New York
A boat bar that’s made in a 75-year-old fishing vessel, this is one of those epic things only New York could produce. This award-winning oyster bar floats along the Hudson River, making it one of the best places to catch the sunset while having a drink or two. You have to experience this to believe it.
