5 Thanksgiving Cocktails You Can Make At Home

We, Indians, are too fun to not celebrate random festivals. We will celebrate just about anything as long as it involves delicious food and daaru. Though Thanksgiving is not popular amongst many of us, there are a few who want to make the most of this festive day. Here are 5 recipes for Thanksgiving cocktails you can experiment with at home

1. Salted Caramel Apple Martini

To be honest, most of my Thanksgiving knowledge comes from watching the Friends series but I am sure Salted Caramel Apple Martini would fit in perfectly with a hearty turkey meal.

What you’ll need:

  • 30 ml caramel flavoured vodka
  • 45 ml apple cider
  • Salted caramel dessert topping
  • Salt
  • 1 thin apple slice

Instructions:

  1. Rim a glass with the salted caramel dessert topping
  2. Sprinkle some salt over the caramel covered rims
  3. Add ice, vodka and apple cider to a shaker
  4. Shake well, and pour it into the glass
  5. Garnish with an apple slice and serve

2. Pumpkin Pie Martini

Come on, I know that we can either cook a meal or bake a pie to celebrate the day. There is no way one should expect us to do both. Well, if you are still feeling generous, I suggest you make Pumpkin Pie Martinis instead. It’s the next best thing after a pumpkin pie!

What you’ll need:

  • 45 ml vanilla vodka
  • 30 ml spiced rum
  • 10 ml brandy (optional)
  • 30 ml ginger liqueur
  • 2 tbsp pumpkin puree
  • A mix of 2 tbsp sugar + 1 tsp ground pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 4 ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Rim a glass with the sugar and spice mix
  2. Add the liquor, liqueur, puree and ice to a shaker
  3. Shake well and strain into the glass
  4. Top it with whipped cream and serve

3. Almond Grove

A pre-Thanksgiving meal drink is mandatory for a fun time. Prepare your palate for the incoming burst of flavours when you lounge around with an Almond Grove.

What you’ll need:

  • 30 ml almond liqueur
  • 30 ml creme de coconut
  • 1 dash cocoa powder
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 1 pinch grated nutmeg

Instructions:

  1. Add everything, except for grated nutmeg, in a shaker and shake well until cocoa powder dissolves
  2. Strain it into a chilled glass
  3. Garnish with grated nutmeg and serve

4. Thanks Given

If you are going to be thankful for the harvest and all the produce lying in your fridge, it only makes sense that you be thankful for the produce that gives you liquor. All hail potatoes, barley and wine!

What you’ll need:

  • 15 ml orange liqueur
  • 30 ml vodka
  • 15 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cranberry sauce
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 15 ml Sparkling wine
  • Sage leaf/orange wheel (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Ad everything, except for wine and sage leaf/orange wheel, to a shaker and shake well
  2. Strain it into a glass and top it with wine
  3. Garnish with a sage leaf/orange wheel, and serve

5. Gingersnap

Even if you plan to cook or order an extravagant meal, you will definitely need a Gingersnap to go with your turkey (or chicken). The flavours go together really well.

What you’ll need:

  • 45 ml vodka
  • 30 ml ginger liqueur
  • 30 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp agave syrup
  • 1/4 tsp peeled and grated fresh ginger
  • 1 pinch cinnamon powder
  • 1 pinch clove powder
  • 1 pinch grated nutmeg
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 Ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Add everything, except for the cinnamon stick, to a shaker and shake well
  2. Strain into a chilled glass
