We all love our alcohol, and as luck would have it, some of our favourite fictional characters from TV do too! Be it the stone-cold Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation or the whimsical author Carrie Bradshaw – they’ve all got the one drink that makes them go weak in the knees (literally!)
Homer Simpson, The Simpsons – Duff Beer
As much as I would have liked to start with a drink that isn’t fictional, there’s no love stronger than that of Homer Simpson for Duff Beer. His drunken tomfoolery is one of the reasons why he’s so funny. Some people did take the hint and start their own Duff Beers around the world, but they’re locked in a legal war over it with the creators.
Carrie Bradshaw, Sex And The City – Cosmopolitan
Who can ever forget the iconic foursome that made up Sex And The City? While they lived their ostentatious, dramatic and cushy lives, we just stared in awe at Carrie and her friends. One of the many things the ladies bonded over, cried over and fought over were four cocktail glasses (that eventually became 20) filled with Cosmos.
Ron Swanson, Parks and Recreation – Lagavulin 16
Ron Swanson’s mustache, his distaste for the government while himself being an employee, his fear of showing emotion and his saxophone talents were enough for us to fall in love with him. But in true Parks and Rec fashion, he had to go one-up us – by showing us his taste in whiskey. He can be seen nursing a glass more often than not, and you can bet it’s the decadent single malt scotch whiskey – Lagavulin 16.
JD, Scrubs – Appletini
It’s hard to not to love this wide-eyed, hilarious doctor who loves fiercely and always happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Although the iconic show Scrubs may be over, it doesn’t have to stop you from drinking JD’s drink of choice – appletinis – while watching reruns.
Don Draper, Mad Men – Old Fashioned
It doesn’t get more signature this. I somehow highly doubt that anyone in Mad Men had anything but an old-fashioned. It’s sturdy, it’s strong and was considered to be a ‘man’s drink’. No wonder it’s called what it’s called. The suave Don Draper is almost always seen either drinking an old-fashioned or ordering one. We say. take tips from that era on what to drink, but leave the misogyny at the door, will you?
