5 Unsobered Chakhnas For Your Next Party

Looking back on my last two months, I have come to realise that I stick with french fries and salted peanuts whenever I go out to drink. To break the monotony, I asked my team for some new chakhna suggestions. Barring the extremely unusual answers, I present you 5 chakhnas (and the daaru it goes with) from our very own Unsobered team

1. Chicken Cheese Paratha

Our graphic designer swears by chicken cheese paratha when drinking Old Monk or just any other dark rum available. So much so that he has a whole list of bars that have this delicious chakhna on the menu!

I did try to point out how we couldn’t count this as chakhna but it would have been quite a struggle to convince his sentimental heart and tummy.

2. Aatte ka Laddu

Our video editor found out his love for aatte ka laddu as a chakhna when this was all he had in his cupboard during an impromptu daaru session meet in his hostel room. The boys crushed some laddus in a bowl and ate it like one would eat namkeen, along with cheap beer.

After that night, he has never looked back! He suggests to pair it with strong beer though.

3. Samosa

Our social media manager loves to feast on hot samosas whenever she is hosting a house party with whiskey on the table. She has a samosa vendor in front of her building who happily home delivers hot crispy samosas on a short call.

She says and I quote, “Ek baar kha legi to kuch aur nahi kha paegi.”

4. Salt & Pepper Paneer Cubes

Our video producer makes paneer at home and sprinkles salt and pepper on the warm paneer cubes. She does this whenever vodka is on the cards. According to her, the creamy warm paneer soothes the tongue after a neat vodka shot.

Word of advice – Don’t go hard on paneer if you are a vodka amateur, because there’s a possibility it won’t stay in your stomach for long.

5. Lemony Kurkure

Read this carefully – buy a packet of Kurkure Masala Munch and squeeze half a lemon in it. Shake it like you shake Peri Peri fries at McD and munch on it while you sip on your whiskey. It is one of the tastiest chakhnas to go with whiskey.

Don’t you dare buy a lemon-flavoured packet of Kurkure!
