Coming straight from the founders of the very successful India Dry Gin JinJiji, is their latest offering – a new Indian single malt whisky called Kamet. Why the name Kamet, you ask? Because this whisky is not only inspired by Mount Kamet in Uttarakhand but also distilled in the foothills of the Himalayas near Kurukshetra.
Kamet is unique in many ways, including that it is produced using six-row barley and is matured in ex-wine casks hailing from France amongst other casks. The ageing process was given so much importance that although Kamet was conceptualised before JinJiji, the gin was launched first so as to launch the best possible single malt whisky.
The whisky is said to have a flavour profile rich with fresh and dried fruit notes along with traces of vanilla, dark chocolate and spice. With a nutty finish and a fruity aroma, it’s hard to resist wanting this in our glasses ASAP. Unfortunately for those not planning to travel anytime soon, Kamet will first be making its way to Goa and will be available there for INR 2,699.
