If you’ve ever lived in Mumbai, you would know that this bustling city is always on the move. The ever-dependent suburban railway line is what keeps the city pulsating. We spend one-third of our lives stuck in these trains. So why not try and make good use of them apart from just being transported to point A to point B? Here we bring you 5 bars where you can quench your craving for alcohol right outside a suburban railway station. These are our favorite bars in Khar.
Best Bars In Khar
- Radio Bar
- U Turn Sports Bar
- Quarter Pillar
- Three Wise Monkeys
- Doolally Taproom
1. Radio Bar
This flashy place is just less than 10 minute walk away from the station. It looks like that bar where all the Punjabi rappers shoot their music videos. Like an item song could break out here at any moment. Our observations aside, Radio Bar is a happening place and live music is one of its major attractions. Quirky and exciting cocktails like “O Sinnerman” and “Billie Gin” fill the bar menu. The choice of food here is not abundant, but they stick to the crowd favorites and have done a good job with it. If you are looking for a more relaxed meet with your group, then it’s best that you skip this one. It’s more of a party place. It’s a “Friday night full tight” kind of place, you get the idea.

2. U Turn Sports Bar
As you must’ve already noticed, this one is a sports bar. Oh, your favorite team is not playing? Don’t worry, there’s plenty here to keep you and your friends entertained. There are not many bars around that feature sheesha (hookah), but this one does! Now, we know that hookah is like the singer Badshah of all vices. You either love it or don’t want to do anything with it. It’s alright, alcohol FTW! Did we mention that it also has a rooftop lounge? So yeah, you get to have an open sky above you. Now, this is Mumbai’s sky, so don’t get super excited. But even if you can see 9 stars, it’s your lucky day.

So if you want to chill out and are with a small group, then this one is for you.

4. Three Wise Monkeys
With jars of classic and signature cocktails for your entire group of weirdos, this hangout joint is a really cool drinking place. Just a hop, skip and jump away from Khar station. It is loved by its patrons for its karaoke nights, live match screenings, and open-mic comedy nights. It’s high on the coolness quotient with its movie posters, wooden beer barrels, and an upside-down pool table! We don’t know how accurate this is as per Vastushastra, but we love it. The crowd here is young and so is the vibe. If you don’t think you are young anymore, then you are wrong. You are on a blog named “Unsobered” reading about great pubs in Khar. Our dear reader, you are young! At least at heart, you are. You’ll fit just right in at the 3 Wise Monkeys.

5. Doolally Taproom
This one is a love letter to a divine creation – Beer. Doolally serves its patrons many kinds of bubbly fresh craft beer. There’s literally something for everyone here. Its interiors are pretty and minimal. It looks like a mall’s food court, which is not a bad thing. This is not one of the bars in Khar that’s intimate or where you want to have serious discussions. This place screams FUN! It encourages you to be open, to laugh out loud, and to take command of the table that’s filled with ten of your buddies. There are multiple board games that you can enjoy. The food options here are few, but they have stuck to the absolute hits. Doolally is playing safe with its food menu and that’s fine, they are winning the beer game. It is super close to Khar Station and is perfect for an evening of drunk talking and laughter.
