Attention! There’s A Beer-Loving Buffalo Stuck In Bihar!

Beer Loving Buffalo

Raja, a buffalo priced at a whopping 2.5 crore at Asia’s largest cattle fair in Sonepur, Bihar, is grabbing headlines for a peculiar reason. What is it? Well, Raja, a 3-year-old Murrah buffalo known for its massive body is not just any buffalo – it’s a symbol of elite livestock. Hailing from Varanasi, this buffalo is grabbing eyeballs because of its astounding and unusual diet: five bottles of beer daily, along with milk, apples, cashews, and high-quality fodder. Isn’t it amusing (and bizarre) to see an animal living your dream life? Well, the grim reality says otherwise.

The Sonepur Fair, Bihar

The Sonepur Fair has been a vibrant marketplace, even during the times of Chandragupta Maurya. Today, however, the market is struggling to retain its once-renowned glory. Thanks to dwindling animal numbers, stricter laws, and concerns over animal safety, the market has reduced in popularity. While Raja attracts plenty of curious tourists who wish to catch a glimpse of the beer-drinking buffalo, a liquor ban in Sonepur, has, however, deprived Raja of his favorite alcoholic beverage.

This lack of beer has left the once-energetic buffalo quite dull and lethargic. His owner, Ram Jatan Yadav, says that the beer enhances Raja’s digestion and also keeps him active and free from fatigue.

Withdrawal Symptoms Of The Beer-Loving Buffalo

The beer-drinking buffalo has been known for its tightly coiled horns and outstanding breeding value, but the animal currently suffers from serious withdrawal symptoms. The lack of beer has taken so much toll on this beer-drinking buffalo that despite being attended by two dedicated caretakers, the animal shows no signs of its previous vigor. It is quite scientifically bizarre to notice such patterns in other animals beyond humans – humans who would sell their soul to be in the buffalo’s place. Despite meticulous care, including two dedicated caretakers, the lack of beer has taken its toll on the innocent animal.

Beer-Loving Buffalo: Amusing Or Concerning?

Even though the news is spreading like wildfire across tabloids and internet meme pages, ultimately acting as a great conversation fodder, it is quite concerning to notice such dietary patterns of an animal. The real question arises – Who introduced beer in the buffalo’s diet in the first place? Is it even scientifically ethical to introduce alcohol in an animal’s diet? If so, where do we draw the line?
