Changyu City Winery is not only China’s oldest but also largest winery and it’s planning to diversify into something quite unique. Not in our wildest dreams did we imagine a theme park dedicated to just wine, but Changyu is going to make it a reality this year in North Bund Shanghai!
The design of the park is currently in the works and is due to be completed in March after which it will open to the public in August. According to the co-construction agreements that were signed, this has been in the works since August of 2020.
The park will be part of Changyu’s Shanghai outpost that is located underground and reaches a whopping 7,000 square metres in surface area. It will have two parts according to plans – one dedicated to immersive experiences and one dealing with food and wine pairings.
The aim of the experience section is to teach the public about terroir, different wine varieties and how they are made. The area will house the famed seasoned oak barrels that come from the thirteen wineries Changyu owns across the globe.
Their food and wine pairing area also doubles as the dining area which will provide guests with a plethora of wines and light meals.
Here’s yet another why we need to stay home so COVID can end ASAP and we can book flights to Shanghai! Wouldn’t you agree?
