What’s an industry without innovation? Just like any other industry, the alcohol industry is dynamically evolving. Now, if you like your alcohol or are simply an enthusiast, such innovative curves and probabilities should ideally excite you. And 2022 might surprise you.

Here are 5 trends from the alcohol industry that are here to stay and thrive in 2022.

  1. Unconventional Cocktail Mixers

Jimmy’s Cocktails is one of the most popular names when it comes to unconventional cocktail mixers. They specialise in readymade cocktail mixes that you simply need to pour into your shaker with ice and liquor in it and then you’re ready to serve and indulge. And that’s not all, more and more brands are launching flavoured sparkling water and tonic water such as Strawberry Ginger Voss Artesian Sparkling Water that you just mix into your spirit of choice and you’re good to sip! In 2022, life’s delightful with easy-to-make cocktails.

2. Non-Alcoholic Liquor & Beer

There is also a wide range of non-alcoholic liquor and beer that taste like the original, alcoholic version but have 0 alcohol content. There’s GinISH and RumISH, which as the names suggest are non-alcoholic alternatives to gin and rum. Then there’s an entire range of non-alcoholic beer by 3 Sisters as well as Coolberg. For someone who is hungover or is hosting guests who don’t consume alcohol but still like to socialise and enjoy the flavour of alcohol, these alternatives are a perfect fit.

3. Ready-To-Serve Cocktails

Convenience and consumption genuinely complement each other. The first-ever brand to launch ready-to-serve, single-serve cocktails in India is Stranger & Sons (Third Eye Distillery in Goa). Although not a single-serve cocktail, Perry Road Peru was the first bottled, ready-to-serve cocktail that Stranger & Sons released in 2021 in a collaborative venture with The Bombay Canteen. Later in the year, Stranger & Sons announced their Two Tailed Tipples in collaboration with The Daily All Day Bar which is an assortment of 4 ready-to-serve, single-serve cocktails. And the concept of ready-to-serve cocktails is here to stay and thrive.

4. Alcohol Brand & Bar Collaborations

We have witnessed alcohol brands collaborating with public figures for a good decade now. But the future of the alcohol industry lies in collaborations between alcohol brands as well as alcohol brands and bars. The reason this benefits both parties is that it drives in more consumers. Stranger & Sons collaborated with Four Pillars Gin (Australia) firstly, then The Bombay Canteen and then went ahead to collaborate with The Daily All Day Bar, all in 2021 itself! Taking a look at the world, Hooters collaborated with United Spirits and launched an in-house, exclusive range of spirits.

5. Epicurean Water

Estuary is India’s first-ever brand to come out with epicurean water. Founded by Devashish Kamdar, Estuary produces premium blending water specifically for whiskey, single malt and vodka. After all, water that’s designed to compliment fine spirits and elevate your experience of consuming the same is a genius invention that needs to be embraced in 2022.
