It’s a great time of the year in general but it’s an ever better time for Star Wars fans with The Last Jedi hitting theatres soon. If you’re anything else like us, you’re planning to celebrate the new installment’s arrival with a couple of drinks and what better way than to drink exclusively Stars Wars-themed beers all this month!
Strikes Bock, Empire Brewing Co.
After ‘Vad’-ing through a series of ‘strikes back’ pun named beers, this one took my fancy, mostly because this was sued for copyright infringement by Lucas Film. It’s a German-style Mai-Bock lager that’s got a dry peppery flavour along with being malty. Sound delish to me!
Dark Helmet, Westbrook Brewing Co.
A beer inspired by a Darth Vader-inspired villian in a fake movie (Spaceballs) inspired by the originals, Dark Helmet is truly unique. The chocolate and Carafa malts in this Schwarzbier give it a rich flavour and its dark colour. Need I say more?
Lack Of Faith, Garage Project
“I find your lack of faith disturbing,” said Darth Vader while choking admiral Motti with The Force and that’s how this black IPA’s name was born! It’s got all the great malty flavours along with tinges of grapefruit, pine, caramel and coffee. I’m seeing a pattern with these black beers, don’t you?
Episode 13, B Nektar Meadery
This is almost impossible to find but also one of the most popular. Not only does it have great artwork on the bottle, it also happens to have flavours of honey, wood and vanilla and pours a hazy golden. It also tastes really alcoholic, some say with a whiskey flavour, so you have that going for you too. Make sure to send us some if you can find it!
Millenium Falcon, Holgate Brewhouse
I’m surprised this hasn’t been sued, but that’s good for us! Millenium Falcon plays on beer lingo too, since it has Millenium, Falconers Flight and Galaxy hops – very clever, don’t you think? It tastes like what fantasies are made of with a 10% ABV and lip-smacking fruity and bubblegum-y flavours.
