We all like a good film and we love a great actor. When we love an actor very very much, how do you acknowledge that? You name an alcoholic drink after them, of course!
Charlie Chaplin
How can he not be on the list? One of the world’s most iconic stars, this powerhouse of talent has a pretty awesome drink named after him. Made by blending equal parts sloe gin, lime juice, and apricot brandy, this sweet drink dates back to the early 20th century at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. Chaplin was at the peak of his career back then!
Mel Gibson
For those who think bartending is a job with no soul, here is a little story for you: During Gibson’s meltdown, a bartender at the Oak Room at Manhattan’s Plaza Hotel created a libation honoring both mental illness and Mel Gibson, who had once said that he was diagnosed with depression. This cocktail is basically a mix of vodka, gin, vermouth, club soda and a splash of onion juice, with no sweetness.
Bill Murray
Unlike other drinks, the drink wasn’t invented with Murray’s nickname, bartenders at the Anchor in New York agreed to name it the “The Murricane” due to Murray’s love for it. Murricane was Murray’s nickname given to him by Dan Aykroyd due to his mood swings. Made with bourbon, elderflower, basil and watermelon, this drink is quite controversial too.
Roy Rogers
This singer-actor already has a bunch of bars and restaurants to his name, so how about having a hearty drink too? A mix of grenadine syrup, carbonated beverage, and maraschino cherry, this drink has both mocktail and cocktail versions of it.
Will Roger
The first charming screen cowboy, Will Roger was known for his quick wit, and people still heart his vaudeville act. I am not too sure about that, but I definitely heart the Will Rogers cocktail. This drink includes gin, dry vermouth, orange juice, and a few dashes of Curacao.
