Here Is A Gin Infused With Scotland’s Ancient Pine Forests

If you are an environmentalist at heart, you will be excited to know that the National Trust for Scotland has released a delicious gin that packs the UK’s largest national nature reserve in a bottle!

The National Trust for Scotland has collaborated with an estate-local distiller – Glenshee Craft Distillers – to distill a gin with botanicals sourced from the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland. The botanicals like juniper, pine needles, birch leaves, bog myrtle, wood sorrel and blaeberries are hand-foraged from the National Park-located Mar Lodge Estate and are used to distill a bottle of Pinewood Conservation Gin. The gin is distilled in small batches and offers a honey-sweet flavour profile and a floral aroma, emanating a herbaceous savoury character.

Pinewood Conservation gin has been launched to celebrate and mark the National Trust for Scotland’s commendable work in protecting and restoring the age-old pine forests of Scotland. This has also helped in supporting the life around the acres of the forest land, especially the wildlife species like the pine marten, red squirrel and golden eagle. The trust aims at restoring the lost glory of the woodlands and releasing Pinewood gin is just one of the many ways to achieve it.

Every bottle sold of the gin helps in conserving the Caledonian pinewoods of Scotland. The funds generated from the gin sales are utilized to facilitate better conservation techniques at the Cairngorms National Park, aiding the trust to protect and restore the forest more efficiently.

Pinewood Conservation Gin is bottled at 40% ABV and a 500 ml bottle is priced at £32. One can make a purchase from the National Trust for Scotland’s official online shop or from various established trust shops in Scotland.

Imagine sipping a peg of this gin on the dock of a forest cabin now. Like it? Buy it.
