Here Is A Vodka Made Out Of Water, Air And Sun!

When I watched the ‘Back to the Future’ movies, I had some really interesting ideas about what the 2000s would bring. But never in my imagination did I think of a time when a spirit like vodka could be made out of air!

Air Co. is a US-based startup that has been co-founded by Gregory Constantine and Stafford Sheehan. Using their collective knowledge of the spirit industry and technical know-how, the founders have invented a breakthrough technology which ferments carbon dioxide into alcohol.

Branded as the world’s first carbon-negative vodka as well as the healthiest, cleanest and the highest-quality of the spirit, the technology and lifestyle company uses solar power to collect carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to make alcohol. While traditional vodka distillation processes emit around 13 pounds of carbon dioxide per bottle in the environment, each bottle of Air Co. vodka removes 1 pound of the gas. This efficient technical process is inspired by the natural process of plant photosynthesis!

Air Co. vodka uses three natural ingredients in its production – water, air and sun. This makes the spirit free of any impurities, offering you a vodka with absolutely no gluten, sugar or carbohydrates! Air Co.’s distilling methods have been recognised and awarded by prestigious organisations like NASA, X-Prize, The United Nations, Forbes and Fast Company.

The vodka is bottled at 40% ABV and priced at US $65. It is hand-bottled with reusable and removable labels and is currently available for sale in the city of New York only.

Air Co. aims to use the new technology to manufacture other consumer goods in the future which have zero negative environmental impact. The company’s mission is to make Earth a cleaner and more sustainable planet for all its present and future inhabitants. With the invention of the new technology, Air Co. has been responsible for removing more than 71,613,000 ml of Co2 from our atmosphere till date.

Fascinating, isn’t it? I hope to see Air Co. introduce more sustainable spirits this year and contribute to a greener environment!
