A useless talent or a great party trick, whatever you may think of chugging beer, you have to admit, sometimes that’s the only way to get your night started! But the best of us seasoned beer drinkers seems to fail at this task. Here’s a couple of ways to help you down that glass!
Open your throat: This might seem like a very serial killer-y demand to make of you but this is what chuggers need to do. Practice with water before trying it on beer. Let the beer slide down your throat instead of gulping. You can ensure that by downing beer quick but slow enough to have some air above the liquid.
If you need gulps, take large ones: No gulping is actually a really hard stage to get to, so while you’re getting there take really huge gulps of beer to get it down faster. You’ll be ready to chug for real in no time.
Hold in your breath: It’s really important that you keep your breath in while chugging so right before putting the mug or bottle to your mouth, take in a huge breath and keep it that way till your drink is over (I mean, if you can’t, don’t hold your breath in forever).
Get the fizz out: If you’re drinking in a mug, get as much fizz while pouring it and then wait for the bubbles to disappear. Also, just before chugging slam your drink on the table to get out the carbon dioxide. This helps a lot to release extra air and get down to business.
Shotgun: For those who want another cool way of chugging, shotgunning is the best method. Puncture your beer can on the side somewhere in the bottom, open the tab and start drinking because that beer is going to flow! For those who prefer a glass bottle, put in a straw and leave the bendy part out, and drink (not from the straw obviously). The straw allows the beer to flow out really quick.
