Kati Patang: Recrafting The Beer Market In India

“Like an unfettered kite that floats across the open skies, Kati Patang stands for the uninhibited, free spirit that lies within us all.”

Kati Patang, a craft beer label founded by wife-husband beer-enthusiast duo Shantanu and Lata, has been slowly gripping the beer market in India. From expression to brewing, Kati Patang is unapologetically unique.

After 10 years of working as a management consultant in New York and Boston, Shantanu decided to explore the world of craft beer in India to turn his love for great beers into a career. After convincing his wife of his entrepreneurial ideas, the couple travelled to Bhutan where they stumbled upon the Serbhum brewery which is where Kati Patang is brewed. Here, the natural spring water from the upper Himalayas is collected for the brewing process, bringing an incomparable taste to the beers.

In October of 2018, Kati Patang launched its first beer – Zesty Amber. It is brewed from all-natural hops, boasting intense complex flavours and a tempting smooth caramel finish. Following its success, the beer label launched another beer – Snappy Wheat. This one packs the flavour of lemon rind and flaunts an Indian spice finish. This beer will welcome you with notes of peppercorn, coriander, ginger and turmeric.

Kati Patang also holds the planet’s best interests at heart. The brand makes sure it uses water to reduce any waste during the brewing process, and has pledged 2% of its annual net profits to water conservation initiatives and projects.

You can find these wonderful beers in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore currently. Have you had a sip yet?
