KitKat’s latest flavour in Japan? Whiskey!

You’ve heard of the infamous matcha-flavoured KitKat, and let us guess, you’ve always wanted to test it. Well, there’s one more KitKat Japan creation that’ll have you jotting it down on your wishlist. Their Whisky Barrel-aged bar is an ‘adult’ chocolate that’ll have you swooning, quite literally.

The rich, bitter chocolate bar is said to have a quite earthy taste that can be attributed to cacao nibs aged in wooden whiskey barrels straight from the island of Islay in Scotland. From the land of iconic whiskey, these barrels are rotated once a week and the nibs are aged for 6 months to truly get the flavour and fragrance of the whisky chocolate.

Nestle Japan

Japan also has its very own KitKat Chocolatory in Shibuya that creates custom chocolates and is a treat for visitors. Although we’d love to take a trip and taste the whisky barrel-aged chocolate at the chocolatory, owing to the pandemic we’d prefer the chocolate travelling to us. Japan, are you listening?
