Lord Of The Drinks – Andheri West

A Tuesday night and two unsobered ladies! A very hot Nawab Shah being the most polite and friendly person, cocktails with 60 ml alcohol, food that makes you want to order more and a ciggie guy selling you a double switch for 15 rupees after 12 am.

That was our Ladies Night at Lord of the Drinks.

We left work around 8:30 pm just after my colleague and boss suggested I be more spontaneous at these events. Only if they knew my idea of being spontaneous is experiencing near-death scenarios for thrill… lol

Soon, we were laughing our asses off at the viral paragliding video while the auto guy cursed the traffic. A short way from Juhu, we reached Lord of the Drinks in 20 minutes. Spread over two floors, the place was quiet with a few people drinking here and there. I rushed to the washroom where upon making conversation with the cleaning lady, she asked to borrow an eyebrow pencil. Alas! I didn’t have one on me.

We went to the bar and enquired about the free drinks for the night. Giving out 2 cocktails per lady, the bar had a Cosmopolitan, a Margarita, and White and Red Wine Sangrias on the menu. The bar manager informed us that the drinks had 60 ml of alcohol instead of the usual practice of 30 ml at other bars, which sounded way better than his last statement of ‘two drinks per lady’.

We settled down, ordered a Cosmopolitan and Red Wine Sangria along with Mini Veg Kebab Basket (Rs. 380) and Thai-style Chilli Chicken (Rs. 430).

As the habit goes, I took a big sip of my Cosmopolitan and ended up coughing! This drink was strong and I could taste the 60 ml of alcohol in this glass. I had to take a sip of my colleague’s Red Wine Sangria after this and lo and behold, this drink had pure red wine in it. This is how their ‘2 drinks per lady’ policy was justified!

But the Mini Veg Kebab Basket was too mini for the price. The kebabs tasted good and saved this order. A decent starter if you are looking to not share. Whereas, the Thai-style Chilli Chicken was disappointing as there was no Thai flavour in it. Had it been named Chilli Chicken, it would have been a good enough order.

As we were discussing a bit of work deadlines and a lot of ex boyfriends, Zulfi Syed walked in around 10:30 pm. Soon after, Akbar Khan and Shawar Ali were spotted. And then there was Mika Singh who didn’t stay for a drink. My eyes lit up when a handsome Nawab Shah walked in with Pooja Batra. Being a little out of touch with Bollywood, my colleague had to point out who was who.

As all of them sat down in the reserved section of the floor, we went out for a smoke. Somehow, the conversation took a spooky turn. Ladies, listen well.

A friend of a friend noticed a rash on her arm after a tinder hookup. Upon consulting the doctor, the guy was found to be working in a morgue, doing hanky panky with dead people, and infecting the sweet little FoF… Traumatized?

Coming back to this night, we ordered the Bruschetta Margherita starter (Rs. 375), and a White Wine Sangria and Margarita. The drinks were great! The White Wine Sangria was amazing enough to be sipped on slowly and the Margarita was perfect. If you are craving free strong non-diluted cocktails, you should definitely attend Ladies Night at Lord of the Drinks.

The Bruschetta Margherita was great! You need to order it whether you go for a Ladies Night or not. It was delicious, the bread was crunchy and the toppings were yum – easily the best I have had till now.

As we looked around, we spotted only 6 other ladies who were here for the ladies night. Red Wine Sangria and Margarita seemed to be popular amongst this crowd.

People started to move on the dance floor around 11:30 pm. The DJ could be better, the music was Bollywood but not the kind that makes you want to groove. Some tracks just made us laugh and we observed people leaving the floor as a track from the movie Saathiya played. We requested a few songs but it fell on deaf ears.

We ordered 2 beers to make the most of this already amazing night. I stepped out to buy a smoke when a happy-looking Nawab Shah twirled me. My awkward ass didn’t react accordingly which made my mother upset the next day.

Well, the night was great! (If I don’t take the music into consideration.)
