The popular Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds who is best known for his quick wit and movies like Deadpool and The Proposal has also made a name for himself in the spirit market with an American craft gin.
Aviation Gin, an original American craft gin is a homegrown gin label which was founded in 2006 by distiller Christian Krogstad and bartender Ryan Magarian at House Spirits Distillery in Oregon, US. Not juniper-forward like other gin labels in the market, Aviation’s flavour profile is a balanced blend of its 7 botanicals – cardamom, coriander, French lavender, anise seed, sarsaparilla, juniper, and two kinds of orange peels. The botanicals are sourced from all around the world and are infused into the gin through a maceration process.
The handcrafted gin is distilled twice and is produced in small batches of 100 cases by a team of master distillers at the House Spirits Distillery in Oregon. The final distilled product is bottled at 42% ABV.
In 2016, Krogstad and Magarian sold Aviation gin to the New York-based wine and liquor distributor Davos Brands. Though House Spirits Distillery is no longer the owner, the gin is still distilled at the Oregon distillery.
In 2018, Ryan Reynolds acquired a stake in the brand and became a co-owner of Aviation gin. He became one of the board members and a creative director for the brand. Today, the gin is available in all of the US and in 15 other countries including Canada, Spain, the UK, Ireland, France, Russia, Italy and Australia.
Aviation Gin has been rated as one of the best gin labels in the world and is priced at US $33.
