Sip Your Way to Tiger Conservation With Kādu Wine

Most of us want to contribute to a better world but are only able to do the bare minimum because of our hectic daily lives. If I told you that you could contribute to tiger conservation programmes in the country by sipping premium wines, would you not do your most to support such a noble cause?

Kādu wine, a premium wine brand from the Karnataka winery of the popular Sula vineyards, was recently launched in the Indian wine market. Pronounced ‘Kaa-du’, the word means ‘wild’ in Kannada. The wine is branded as a ‘Wine for a Cause’ and a ‘Wildlife Wine’, and is Sula’s only wine to be wholly-made in the state of Karnataka.

Due to poaching and other illegal human activities in the wild, the world’s tiger population has been adversely affected. Since India is home to over 70% of our national animal’s population, Karnataka holding 14% alone, it was only fit for Sula’s Kādu to give back to the state by contributing to the country’s tiger conservation programmes, as well as pay homage to the state for being one of the most important wine regions of India.

Sula collaborated with Sanctuary Nature Foundation, a non-profit Indian foundation that supports grassroots wildlife conservationists in the country, to proceed with its initiative. For every bottle of Kādu wine sold, Sula will donate INR 5 to the foundation which will utilise the funds in the most effective manner to support tiger conservation projects in the state.

Four wines were introduced in the market by Kādu, which are being touted as the best premium wines in the price range.

  • Kādu Chenin Blanc – A delicate white wine with the flavour and aroma of peach, citrus and honey. It’s recommended to pair the wine with Indian seafood and Thai cuisine.
  • Kādu Sauvignon Blanc – A crisp white wine with the flavour and aroma of passion fruit, green peppers and fresh-cut grass. The wine complements spicy non-vegetarian dishes as well as green salads.
  • Kādu Shiraz Rose – A light rose wine with the flavour and aroma of strawberry, white pepper and peach. The wine is versatile in nature and is a perfect accompaniment to buffets.
  • Kādu Cabernet Shiraz – A medium-bodied red wine with the flavour and aroma of red berries, chocolate and oak. The wine is best paired with lamb dishes and Italian cuisine.

These wines are available in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka as of now. A 750 ml bottle has been priced for around INR 625 and a 375 ml bottle for around INR 350.

I have already sorted out my dinner plans for today – I am going to try at least two of these wines. Which one of these wines are you looking forward to sipping after work or this weekend? Tell us in the comments below.
