Svami Drinks: Premium Tonic Water From India

The growing demand of gin in India has positively-affected the domestic spirit industry, resulting in Indian gin labels entering the country’s alcohol market. While gin cocktails were trending in the bars here, enthusiasts created a demand for tonic water to enjoy a simple G&T London-style. To fill this gap in the market, three alcohol enthusiasts launched Svami Drinks in India.

Co-founded by Sahil Jatana, Rahul Mehra and Aneesh Bhasin, Svami Drinks was launched with the idea to offer a spirit-specific mixer to the Indian consumers. But the founders wanted to invest in a product that could be consumed as a stand-alone beverage as well and thus the company introduced flavoured tonic water and ginger ale mixer next.

Svami Drinks takes pride in manufacturing low-sugar mixers that offer pleasant flavours to the consumers. The tonic waters are made from the highest quality of botanicals and hand-picked quinine that elevate the juniper flavour in tequila. The company has four variants of tonic water under its name – Original Tonic Water, Light Tonic Water, Cucumber Tonic Water and Grapefruit Tonic Water

Original Tonic Water is high in quinine and lime and acts as a perfect mixer for tequila and mezcal. One can enjoy the beverage as a refreshing drink by adding a dash of bitters to it as well. Light Tonic Water is even lighter than the brand’s already low-sugar offerings. This variant contains half the amount of sugar that most commercial tonic waters pack, with 5g/100ml.

Cucumber Tonic Water is extremely aromatic and pairs well with gin and vodka. It acts as a refreshing aperitif as well. Grapefruit Tonic Water offers a strong flavour of the fruit while maintaining a complex citrus flavour profile in every sip. Both these flavoured variants pack 5g of sugar per 100 ml while Original Tonic Water packs 7g of sugar per 100 ml.

Svami Drinks’ Ginger Ale packs an intense ginger flavour profile that offers appreciable notes of lemon by its side. The mixer packs 7g of sugar per 100 ml, and is recommended to be consumed for an authentic ginger-kick.

The founders wanted to be personally involved in the manufacturing of these beverages. From experimenting with ingredients to create the best recipes to setting up the brand’s own production unit, they have paid attention to every step of the production process. They announced their plans to introduce a range of mixers in the future but till then, go get yourself a Svami mixer to have a healthy and delicious week ahead!
