Tasting Signature Cocktails At ‘And It Was Called Yellow’

Launched a little over two months ago, And It Was Called Yellow is a cozy little restro bar in Bandra. You will smile upon spotting the subtle yellow hue throughout the place, from the decor pieces here and there to the yellow paint on the table. The restro bar is already making a name for its appetizing food among the foodies in Mumbai, so I had to go there to see if their cocktails were as great as their food. Their bar menu flashed 8 signature cocktails and I ordered 3 of them while ordering a highly recommended original recipe of G&T.

Hapustini

Hapustini

My first cocktail order was Hapustini. This recipe calls for Alphonso mango pulp and Eristoff vodka, and I never knew this combination could make me drool. There is no doubt about its deliciousness, no doubt at all because my eyes lit up as soon as I took a sip of this drink. The texture was smooth, the taste was delectable and it smelled of mango- so much so that I recalled a memory of 2-year-old me eating a mango sitting inside a washbasin!

Sweet Harvest

Sweet Harvest

This cocktail surprised me. The recipe states Bacardi white rum and sugarcane extract as its ingredients but I was more than excited to see a flamed cinnamon stick and Old Monk dark rum included in it. A sweet cocktail, the flavour of the cinnamon stick overpowered the taste of sugarcane here. Each sip imprinted the taste of Old Monk on my tongue, which made this order extremely likeable.

One sip and I knew this cocktail was my second favourite. White rum, pineapple and curry leaf were listed as its ingredients on the menu. This cocktail looked and tasted tropical, a drink I would sit down with on a beach where waves would caress my feet every few minutes. The taste of pineapple was potent and there was a subtle flavour given off by the curry leaf. All in all, this cocktail’s flavours came together extremely well.

Star Anise & Dagad Phool G&T

Star Anise & Dagad Phool G&T

Highly recommended by the team of And It Was Called Yellow, the recipe used Blue Ribbon gin, star anise and dagad flower infused syrup, lime water and tonic to make this classy drink. It was a refreshing take on G&T – the taste had a subtle spiciness to it and I would love to order it while munching on light food orders like salads. It was a perfect evening cocktail.

All the cocktails I ordered were delicious, and the quality of the ingredients used were top-notch. I would highly recommend you to go to And It Was Called Yellow whenever you are craving for the most delicious cocktails in Bandra.
