India’s start-up ecosystem has erupted like a bottle of champagne in the last decade. What’s even more heartening is that there are a bunch of CEOs and founders out there who are responsible for putting India’s alcohol industry on the global map. All of these guys left comfortable high paying jobs and followed their alcohol dream and in turn, made ours come true.
Rahul Singh – CEO Beer Café
Rahul Singh’s Beer Café has created a disruption when it comes to socializing over alcohol. While pubs and bars are present at the corner of almost every urban street today, Rahul brought the concept of an all-day socializing joint with 50-60 beer varieties to try out. With more than 35 outlets across the country today, Rahul’s ‘beer belly’ is expanding and how!
Ankur Jain – Founder, Bira
Ankur Jain’s Bira 91 has created a craft beer revolution in the country. This guy’s story is inspiring because he had initially launched a healthcare information start-up which ran successfully for 5 years, but realized that his passion was directing him elsewhere. In 2015, he followed his heart and seized the opportunity of an untapped craft beer market in India, and look what the now-famous monkey has done in 2 years.
Rahul Mehra – CEO, Gateway Brewing Company
It’s the little moments in life that show you the way, and the birth of Gateway Brewing Company was the result of one such moment in Rahul Mehra’s life. A chance encounter with a friend’s homebrew kit led Rahul to subsequently create his first homemade brew. It was then that he realized that he wanted to brew craft beer for a living, and leave a comfortable high paying job in the process at a food distribution company. Today, Rahul distributes craft beer instead of food via Gateway Brewing Company.
These three extremely enterprising individuals have given a huge boost to the beer culture in Mumbai. We are indebted to them for life!
