I came across Tonique when I moved to Hyderabad last year. The store was a class apart from any alcohol outlet I had ever come across. Structured like a grocery store, the ground floor dedicated to beer and low-alcohol beverages, and the first floor dedicated to a fine collection of wine, vodka, whiskey and other hard liquors, you were provided carts to put in your purchases while browsing through different shelves and fridges. The staff was polite and the service was excellent as they would pack your bottles in a cardboard box and even go to the lengths of loading it into your vehicle. There was no doubt about Tonique being the safest alcohol store for women in the city.
Early in the year, the store took its classy concept to the city of Bangalore. They wowed everyone with their plan to launch with a space of 30,000 sq. ft, which stands to be double the size of its Hyderabad outlet. This makes Tonique not only India’s but Asia’s biggest liquor store.
The outlet has been designed to host events and encourage interactions between alcohol enthusiasts. The floor space will include a wine tasting room, a bakery and a cheese counter, which will host sommeliers and brewmasters on a regular basis. The store’s top floor will be occupied by wine and champagne, with a shelf space of more than 1000 bottles, while the hard liquor shelves will hold around 700 labels of different spirits. You can also expect more than 40 labels of beer and a space dedicated to different types of tonic water.
Tonique is all set to open more outlets, with the next being in Mumbai. The founder, Anith Reddy dreams to take Tonique to the city of New York one day. With an idea so great, I am extremely intrigued by how far Tonique is capable of going. Would you like to see their store in your city? Tell us in the comments below.
