Top 5 Asian Bars In ‘World’s Best Bars’ 2019

The World’s Best Bars were announced quite recently with Dante (New York) receiving the first spot on the list. Four of the top 5 bars come from New York and London, but Asian bars aren’t much behind in retrospect. Here are 5 Asian bars which made the list this year

1. Atlas, Singapore

Atlas stood at the 8th position at World’s Best Bars this year. It mesmerized the judge panel with its gin-based cocktails from its expansive gin library which holds more than 1300 labels. Atlas is known for its grand mansion-style architecture, art collection and extensive champagne menu in the city of Singapore.

The bar won the title of The Best Bar in Asia 2019 this year.

2. The Old Man, Hong Kong

Ranked 9th on the World’s Best Bars list, The Old Man is a passion-project turned award-winning bar. The bar stands as a tribute to Ernest Hemingway, taking heavy inspiration from his work. The name itself comes from his Pulitzer Prize-winning fictional novel The Old Man and the Sea. The bar pays homage to Hemingway’s life by inculcating his favourite spirits and cocktails in their menu.

The Old Man has ranked 5th on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list in the past.

3. Manhattan, Singapore

Manhattan ranked 11th on the World’s Best Bars list. The bar gives out strong New York vibes with its glamourous and sophisticated ambience and stellar service. The space flaunts an in-hotel rickhouse (whiskey-aging warehouse), which is filled with barrel-aged cocktails, along with a grand collection of vintage American whiskies.

The bar ranked 2nd in Asia’s 50 Best Bars.

4. Native, Singapore

Native ranked 12th on the World’s Best Bars list. The bar is known for using all of its ingredients that are sourced from Asian regions only. The bar is high on sustainability, starting from their choice of ingredients to in-house compost and mini-garden on the property. Native’s bar menu exhibits new innovative cocktail creations instead of the classic drinks.

Native won the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award 2019 for its earth-friendly practices.

5. High Five, Tokyo

High Five ranked 18th on the World’s Best Bars list. This bar is a cocktail haven, with people coming in to taste master Hidetsugu Ueno’s cocktails ‘The White Lady’ and ‘Full Blossom’. The bar has an intimate ambience, and does not take any reservations. One is in luck if they find a table here.

So, when are you ordering a drink at one of these places?
