In India, we generally crib about how the age limit to drink is 25 years or needing a license to drink in Gujarat, but we have no idea how much more absurd it can get. From cows to firing squads, drinking laws around the world can get… strange, to say the least.
Scotland
We imagine people have been outrageously drunk worldwide, but how it led to Scotland having a law that states riding a cow while intoxicated is illegal, we’ll never know. To be fair, these are old regulations but since they’ve never been taken off the documents, we’re guessing Scotland is just playing it safe.
Bolivia
Can you imagine a law that states that married women can’t drink more than one glass of wine when out at a club or pub? Well, La Paz in Bolivia has that rule instated because they believe this could lead to the women having extramarital affairs. Hilarious, yet extremely sad.
El Salvador
There’s extreme, and then there’s EXTREME! In El Salvador, it’s possible to be sentenced to death for a first offense of driving drunk. Although drunk driving is a serious crime, and an extremely silly decision, does a firing squad need to be involved? We think not.
Australia
In the land down under, it is apparently illegal to crush a can of beer between your breasts. There’s a lot of glory to be achieved with this accomplishment, but you’ll most likely also be paying a hefty fine. Sounds weirdly specific but okay.
Germany
Germany takes their drunk bicycling incidents pretty seriously. If you do decide to cycle around after a night of drinking, you stand to lose your license and also be sent in for a psych evaluation test. That’s not how you want your night to end, do you?
