The premium beer brand White Owl was launched in 2014 by Harvard Business School graduate Javed Murad. The whole concept and foundation of White Owl was a product of his immense love for good craft beers. During his home visits in India, he would be tormented by the lack of craft beers in the Indian market. After much discussion and thought with his peers and mentors, Murad decided to take matters into his own hands and thus, White Owl was born.
During the process of acquiring the required licenses for a microbrewery in India, Murad started White Owl as a restaurant before turning it into a craft brewery. And today, it stands as the smallest microbrewery in India.
White Owl had received a funding of Rs. 30 crores from IIFL India Private Equity Fund during its inception, which it used to bring 3 variants of its beer into the market – Spark Belgian Wit, Diablo Irish Red Ale, and Ace Apple Cider Ale.
After capturing the market in the West and a few cities of North India, White Owl wishes to expand to the whole of the northern and southern states. With its very recent funding of 40 crores from the same investor as before, White Owl will be introducing 5 other variants of its beer and looks forward to capturing the Telangana market, especially the city of Hyderabad.
Next, White Owl will be pulling the curtains up on Spike, a German Weizenbock which will be the strongest wheat beer in the company’s portfolio. The other variants will include Torpedo American Pale Ale, Pauline German Kolsch, Shadow English Porter, and Now or Never Seasonal Ale.
Looks like White Owl is going to fly higher than ever. What do you want to see from this renowned company next?
