When it comes to whisky, India has been known to create some of the finest blends, an example being Amrut. Though it is not produced for the Indian whisky enthusiasts, a Goa-based distillery is changing the domestic market with its recent launch of an award-winning 100% Indian whisky!

WoodBurns is a contemporary Indian whisky which is made from Indian ingredients with no addition of foreign malts and scotch to it. Distilled in the 11-acre family-owned Fullarton Distilleries in the Candepar region of Goa, this whisky is a product of 6 years of perfect hard work. Launched recently, WoodBurns whisky has already won a silver medal in the World Blended Whisky category at the International Spirits Challenge in London!

WoodBurns whisky is appreciated for its unique charcoal flavour which seems to be quite addictive on the palate. It is matured in handcrafted charred oak barrels which provides it with its rich character. The whisky offers subtle aromatic notes of smoke and dark chocolate and is considered to be a must-try by enthusiasts in the country.

Currently, it is available in Goa, at more than 50 restro bars and selective retail outlets. A 750 ml bottle of this high-standard whisky is priced at INR 1500, which makes it ultra-affordable in India. It is also available in Mumbai at INR 2850 across major retail outlets.

Whenever you are in Goa or Mumbai next, make sure you attend the bar takeovers organized by the label. You can keep yourself updated by following WoodBurns on Instagram. And don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
