Last year’s Bacardi Legacy finals that were meant to be held in May were postponed indefinitely due to the unfortunate hit of the pandemic. But now, finally, the global finals will be held online in June 2021.
The competition format has been slightly changed by Bacardi this year, allowing all entrants a chance to receive USD 5,000 so as to aid a project of that aims to help the industry recover. This is a great move considering how hard the hospitality industry was hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
Each of the finalists will have a chance to receive this prize after they submit a venture idea of their choice. The grant that allows this is called the El Coco grant, aptly named after the trees planted outside the first Bacardi distillery in Cuba.
In the year of 2019, Ronnaporn Kanivichaporn won the Legacy Cocktail Competition, which made him the first entrant representing an Asian country to win the title.
