The night had a dramatic start with me selecting a not-so-well-known bar for this article. Once my colleague and I reached the venue that shall not be named (near Santacruz station), we realized it was shady af and ran away as fast as we could. BKC Dive was next on the list so it made complete sense to take our asses there.
We reached the venue in 45 minutes after directing a few left turns as right and vice versa to the auto driver. Sorry?
As soon as we entered, we were hit by loud music and a super crowded bar. The whole bar counter had a horde of men buying booze as if it was free distribution. My colleague tried to get the bartender’s attention while I requested for a table.
As energetic as the vibe was, it was just as chaotic. I stepped out for a smoke and struck a conversation with a spectacled good-boy type dude. Two minutes into this conversation made me realize that BKC Dive was booked for a party of 120 Wellingkar students! No wonder all the men looked so alcohol-starved…
I went in and settled at our table that the gracious bar manager was able to save for us. BKC Dive had an interesting ladies night menu, with all the drinks priced at Rs. 99/-. We placed an order of a Cider and Gin Cucumber Smash from the ladies night drinks menu.
The bar’s dance floor was filled with Wellingkar students getting their party on. It was fun to watch these college students drink and dance like there was no tomorrow. Our drinks took a little longer than usual to arrive but seeing the crowd that was there, it was naturally expected.
My Cider was decent, tasting more like tomato juice, but I fell in love with my colleague’s Gin Cucumber Smash. It was refreshing, delicious and the right amount of strong. As I planned to order her drink for myself, two boys sitting on the table behind us threw a tissue at us.
I assumed it to be a childish mock fight but these two were trying to break the ice with this paper-action! As soon as I accepted their apology, they started chatting us up. I interrupted their flow by enquiring about their age. Dude pretended to be 26 and working at a PR firm but didn’t seem to have a clue about his work profile or the clients. I had to excuse myself when he asked for our cellular digits.
Now, I needed a beer. Not A beer. A few beers. We ordered for a bucket of 4 while dancing to the sick beats. These two men who were sitting adjacent to us started to flash smiles and pass out a vibe of acknowledgment and appreciation for our dance moves. All was fine until one of the men insisted on opening my beer with his teeth.
My colleague and I decided to take a break from this flirting technique and ordered a veg. Starter – Cheese Balls & Mango Mayo (INR 275). This order turned out to be great! It was perfectly crispy from the outside and gooey-cheesy from the inside.
As we were helping ourselves to the food, a girl asked if she could climb on our table to dance. I was so dumbfounded that I nodded. We had to move to the table beside us to make space for her and her heels.
We looked around to find most of these students dancing on their and other people’s tables. I turned back to see my colleague making her way to an empty table!
As the night progressed, so did the sweat smell. It got so bad, we had to avoid breathing near the dance floor. But there was no doubt that the party scene at BKC Dive was great! The bar had great offers onboard, even greater music for all the groove masters and polite staff to keep everyone satisfied.
You should definitely attend their ladies night ‘Girls Night’ on Thursdays, starting at 7pm. Gather your girl gang to enjoy a night of cheap booze at BKC Dive!
