Pssst… There’s a new bar in the suburbs, it’s in Juhu, and it’s the same old Bar Stock Exchange with an academic twist (groan).
Jungle Jungle baat chali hai, naya khula hai
With the charm of an abandoned school building and the food of a dingy cafeteria, this place has it all. Actually, when you’re that drunk off of cheap booze you don’t really give a fuck. It’s value for money for any broke, young up-comer who wants to drown their sorrows in 50 rupees vodka shots.
Blessed art thou, oh sacred one – “the DJ” – who refuses to take song requests from anybody or play anything relevant. Apparently Chainsmokers “doesn’t go with the vibe bro”.
Its a fine place, with Camlin boxes kept on your tables to strategically throw you off your balance and remind you of your school days, thereby filling you with anxiety and mortal fear – if you grew up in an all boy’s school that is. Although it does remind you of the days of bullying freshers and throwing fart bombs in the teachers cabins – ah nostalgia!
Is there anything I’d add to the new BSE? Yes – better food options, relevant music and some indie talent performing there. Because otherwise, the place can bore you to death after a few times. Like a physics lecture from a professor who doesn’t get any action at home. It’s funny at first when he stutters saying the word “physical energy”, but after a while you cringe and want to pull your hair out.
Like a hotel bar when you’re traveling city to city, BSE has grown like a cottage industry spreading its wings everywhere, while meagerly differentiating itself from suburb to suburb.
Fuck the townies. Ya’ll have all the best places, while we have Hoppipola. Fucking dungeon dressed up like a clown of a restaurant.
All in all BSE juhu’s a good restaurant, great prices and amazing atmosphere, and filled with Juhu people. Very chill and into “high” experiences. Lots of hidden places and pan waalas everywhere.
But hey, you can’t get a fucking table even on a Wednesday post 10.
