For some absurd reason, alcohol advertising has been banned for a good part of the last century or so. Our guess is, lawmakers realised that alcohol needed no advertising. Nevertheless, booze manufacturers have been coming up with some very clever commercials. Here are our top picks:
‘Jack Lives Here’ – Jack Daniels
A short and zippy commercial that gives a shout-out to all night revellers and talks about the restless generation that went to sleep when the sun came up. This series of commercials brought the popular tagline ‘Jack lives here’ into the 90s.
Mila Kunis makes history – Jim Beam

The world class bourbon from Kentucky brought actress Mila Kunis onboard for their campaign #MakeHistory. The commercial sees Mila looking as amazing as ever as she brands a barrel of bourbon with her name, promising to return for it in four years.
How We Roll – Woodstock bourbon

This is a humorous take on how seriously Woodstock Bourbon takes the oak its bourbon is barrelled in. This is one of those commercials that give you a sense of quality without ever even talking about the product.
Iron Horse – Jameson
Another clever commercial that signifies how important the alcohol is to people without even pouring out a measure. This ad is pretty much Akshay Kumar’s ThumsUp ads on crack.
Sippin on Bacardi Rum – Bacardi Rum
90’s kids, it’s time for some nostalgia. All of us know this one tune from a very chilled out ad we saw on TV about a group of beautiful looking friends having a ball on an island. Pretty sure none of us knew back then what the ad was for, but boy did it stick. Raise your glasses to the master of creative commercials, Bacardi.
Through the Bottle – Smirnoff
Not sure how many of you would remember this, but this commercial is another blast from the past. This Smirnoff ad is lengthy and detailed, and goes a long way in trying to freak you out. But well, at least they’re letting you know what happens after having Smirnoff.
Go on then, check out these ads and raise your glass to their creativity.
