The Women In Beer Festival will be the first-ever festival to celebrate women who drink and work with beer. Organised by a women beer club Beers Without Beards in Edinburgh, UK, the aim is to lay a foundation for gender balance and highlight women in the male-dominated beer industry. To do so, women brewery founders and brewers along with beer marketers and bar staff will be participating in various events at the festival.

The Women In Beer Festival will run for 4 days, from 10th Oct to 13th Oct, and will have 5 venue partners and 10 breweries associated with it. There will be close to 10 workshops, events and conferences hosted by industry experts and 5 Tap Takeovers where you will see beer owned and brewed by women. For beer amateurs, it is an opportunity to learn about different beers, beer styles and beer-food pairings. The festival will also include workshops on issues such as sexism and sexual harassment in the beer industry.

Amélie Tassin, founder of Beers Without Beards, hopes to create a safe place for all women to discover and experiment with craft beers. She wants to dismantle the notion that beer is just for men.

Edinburgh’s top pubs and bars will be a part of the festival for tasting sessions and various events. The five venture partners being The Stockbridge Tap, Monty’s, Salt Horse, Fierce Bar and the Campervan Brewery Taproom. The presiding guests will include Jane LeBlond (Founder of all-female brewery Mothership), Jan Rogers (Owner and Director of Marble Beers) and Abigail Newton (National Vice Chairman at CAMRA).
