Being such a television buff, it’s hard for me to ignore characters drinking. I am a strong believer of “you are what you drink” and when characters call for drinks, it says so much about their personalities. Here we list down our favourite characters and their favourite on-screen drinks.
J.D – Appletini: I am sorry ER, for me, Scrubs have been the best medical drama. And it owes a lot of its awesomeness to the adorable, dorky, goofy JD. Although this green, cutesy apple flavoured drink made him the butt of jokes, this drink was ‘easy on the tini’ and he loved it.
Nucky Thompson – Sidecar: You won’t appreciate Nucky Thompson played by Steve Buscemi until you watch HBO’s Broadwalk Empire, just like how you won’t be able to appreciate Sidecar till you have it. A prohibition era favourite, this is a blend of Cognac, lemon and orange liqueur, and probably the fittest drink for a gangster.
Brian Griffin – Dry Martini: This is weird as hell, considering he’s a dog. But he’s also the smartest and wisest one in Family Guy. He loves a mean dry martini and offensively takes baby Stewie to the bar as well. If that ain’t a true drunk, what is?
Carrie Bradshaw – Cosmopolitan: This cocktail shot to fame with Carrie. Through all her ups and downs, and emotional turmoil, Cosmopolitan kept her cool (more like drunk). She believed that she was never drunk but sedated from her pain and Cosmo was her medicine. A beautiful, pink, addictive medicine.
Homer Simpson – Duff Beer: Our favourite cartoon character, Homer somehow ends up in a bar at the end of the day and we believe that it’s a pretty realistic representation of who we are. He has a regular bar that he goes to, he’s best friends with the best drunk in town and loves his alcohol, that is cheap. We feel you, Homer.
