Ask any youngster in the northern part of the country what their favourite beer is and you might be a tad bit surprised to see them say Godfather beer. We can’t really blame them. If you like a beer with strong carbonation that cuts out the sweetness, then here’s a beer just for you. In addition to that, you get a faint metallic aroma and slight hints of a malty and citrusy taste. On a very neutral note, it might not be the most ideal of beers to drink, but you could down a bottle or two without much fuss. You’d get it in three variants – Godfather Lite, Godfather Strong and Godfather Lager.

2. Kalyani Black Label

When it comes to United Breweries, you’d be surprised to know that Kingfisher isn’t their one and only beer brand. Say hello to Kalyani Black Label. Here’s another favourite amongst the northern and eastern parts of the country owing to its carbonation. The only thing that you perhaps may not like is the fact that its tiny white head disappears in a jiffy. It’s sweet, light and fuzzy which is just what any beer lover would love to gulp down.

3. Royal Challenge

A brand that prides itself in how smooth and well-brewed their beer is, Royal Challenge doesn’t disappoint. Their long brew duration gives it a golden honey colour along with a distinct taste that is vibrant and crisp. While you may choose to opt for the popular beer brand, we’d recommend having a glass or two of Royal Challenge before you decide on a favourite.

4. Khajuraho

This has nothing to do with the temple. But you obviously knew that. Available in two variants — Super Strong (8.5-9%) and Lite (4.5%) — this pale golden beer with a sweetish flavour is just what you need when you want nothing more than a cold beer.

And here’s a bit of trivia for you – Set up in 1969 by Lilasons Breweries Ltd., Khajuraho Beer stakes claim to being India’s first super strong beer.

5. Bullet
