In a city where new restaurants and bars open every month, each claiming to be more novel and innovative than the last but ultimately serving trendy, ubiquitous items, Bar Find feels like a breath of fresh air. Bar Find is the very first traveling bar in India by elemental.inc that sets up shop in major Indian cities for around two to three months each. They arrived in Mumbai towards the end of May or early June and are in town till October. Since its arrival, it has created quite a buzz among Mumbai’s more discerning drink enthusiasts, so unsobered decided to see what the fuss was all about. What we found was quite extraordinary.

Housed inside the Kitab Mahal Cafe (KMC) in Fort, Bar Find has completely transformed the place. With original artworks, classic vinyls, and moody red lighting, the ambiance is immaculate. But enough about the interiors, and onto the reason why unsobered was there!
unsobered tried the Spicy Margarita and Pistachio Coffee. Pistachio coffee had a dome of pistachio foam on the coffee liquor that added such a toasty, nutty dimension to the cocktail; it was simultaneously comforting and exciting. The Spicy Margarita was very delicious too, and especially recommended for people who enjoy Picantes and Bloody Marys.
The food was very innovative as well. unsobered tried the very delicious and mind-blowing mutton jhal muri and bhetki fish fingers. The flavors of each of the dishes blew us away! It was clear that you could take Bar Find out of Kolkata, but not Kolkata out of Bar Find!
The concepts at the bar were genuinely not just fresh and creative, but also very beautiful. It was clear that a lot of blood, sweat, and tears were poured into each element of Bar Find. If you are someone who considers themself a cocktail aficionado, an amateur mixologist, or an alcohol enthusiast, this pop-up is unmissable for you.

Bar Find first established itself in Kolkata. However, owing to a series of unfortunate paperwork-related events, it had to pack up. They then decided to turn the establishment into a traveling bar that would set up shop in different cities for a limited period of time. The Bar Head of Bar Find, Matteo Ciarpaglini, is himself quite well-traveled. He has been a part of kitchens at establishments like Noma in Copenhagen and Bar Paradiso in Barcelona. Mumbai was the first stop after Kolkata, and from here, they have set their sights on the Silicon Valley of India, namma Bengaluru! So, if you’re in Mumbai and want a truly novel experience, don’t wait, as it will soon pack up and leave. If you’re in Bengaluru and want to visit the place once it's in your city, keep your ear to the pavement for its location and other important details.

While we enjoyed the cocktails and snacks served here, we were particularly taken by the mutton jhal muri served here. It was spicy and meaty and zesty and exciting! We also think that amid all the hype around cocktails (well-deserved, by the way), the food hasn’t received its due credit. It’s not just good as an accompaniment to your drink but is a solid, well-rounded dish on its own.
What is more, the staff there is also very helpful and polite. We also quite enjoyed our interactions with the bartenders. They were smart, funny, good-looking, and clearly extremely skilled at what they did. We highly recommend stopping by the bar for a chat in case they are not too busy.
As a concept, Bar Find is quite novel. The traveling bar residency concept not only allows the establishment to take its innovative creations across the country, but it is also a fantastic way of navigating fatigue and saturation that comes with being stationary in a single location. The ticking clock of the bar creates an air of irresistibility around the establishment that is tough to fight off.
