When you see a bar name written rather exuberantly on the outside, you expect to be greeted by bigger and better things inside; like a trailer before a film. Quarter Pillar has an appealing first look, but the main deal turns out to be a damp squib. Like most Bollywood films today.
A yawn-fest that pulls you through with cheap alcohol
Now when you are entering a bar named Quarter Pillar, the intriguing name propelled by mediocre word play makes you guess the ambiance inside, the decor and basically the overall theme of the place. Stop right there!
The first thing you realize when you enter this place is that it is awfully small. Now, we don’t have a problem with small watering holes, but Quarter Pillar creates contrary expectations right at the entrance with its big-ass logo.
It’s all about the vibe at the end of the day. It is quite the obvious joke, but Quarter Pillar has moods that are as slow as the creature they put next to its name. Makes for some logic when you think about its name.
Even the guys over at Quarter Pillar know that they can’t really do much to save their yawn-fest, and so they hired an amateur copywriter to save the day for them through, what are meant to be, funny writings on their walls. Brace yourself to digest these: “BLENDERS taught me… Who needs a bride when you have Pride” If this didn’t choke the fuck out of you, here’s another gem – “Corona Pyaar Hai” Heights of bore-dumb will strike!
It is at this point that you’ve had enough and as you face-palm the moment away, the only thing that can save you from feeling non-existent is the daaru.
They have nothing new to offer in the BAR menu, except for cheap alcohol. Finally, something to get you past your evening!
The waiters don’t want to give a fuck about your presence. They look like they wish they were serving drinks at any of the 4 other places beside Quarter Pillar. Yep, we’re still figuring out how Quarter Pillar made it to the league of extraordinary drinking joints outside Khar station.
Where? Hotel Singh’s International, 3rd Road, Ram Krishna Nagar, Khar West
