Raasta

We went to attend Ladies Night at Raasta, Khar on Thursday with our Video Producer joining us on our little daaru adventure. The three of us squished inside an auto and a conversation started on boarding schools, fake candids and graveyards.

FYI, I ended the discussion by saying I wouldn’t live in a house opposite a graveyard, however cheap, because the movie Insidious has eternally screwed me up.

As soon as we walked into the property, we were handed 4 coupons each. Here was Raasta, with a floor big enough for a decent crowd, DJ in one corner and smoking room in one, bar in front of us, and no vacant tables around. We spotted the Asst. Manager and it was a delight to have a conversation with him! He was polite and accommodating. Not only did he arrange a table for us, he patiently answered all our questions as well.

We settled down and headed for the bar. The drinks menu was huge and we were quite surprised by straight drinks and beer being a part of it! 1 coupon for 1 drink.

Tip – Raasta Special is a mocktail.

We had a total of 12 coupons and placed an order for a Cosmopolitan, a Cuba Libre and a Tom Collins.

Ladies, you need to know that the cocktails were diluted enough for you to chug it in under 30 seconds. There was no taste of vodka in the Cosmopolitan, rum in the Cuba Libre or gin in the Tom Collins.

It was a little disappointing but the relaxed vibe, attentive staff and great music didn’t let us complain for long. We placed an order for Raasta Fiery Chicken Wings (INR 295) and Veg. Jalapeno Cheese Cigars (INR 325).

Tip – If you have Zomato Gold, you will get 1+1 on food here. We had two Zomato Golds and it worked out well for us.

We expected the chicken wings to be fiery hot and spicy but nah, the food was cold and had a sweet taste to it. Also, the chicken seemed to be a little undercooked. On the other hand, the cheese cigars seemed to be freshly made and tasted good.

Next, we ordered another Cuba Libre, a Mojito and straight Dark Rum.

Mojito

A friendly bartender promised to make my drink stronger but…

The peg of rum seemed to be a better option compared to the cocktails as there was no trace of alcohol in the Mojito.

The night had started to pick up around 11 pm. People started walking in, the DJ started to work his magic as people started dancing, and the place that had a relaxed vibe till now suddenly started buzzing with a party.

We moved to the dance floor, eyeing the men around while grooving to the beats. The music was lit with D2 and DJ Sid throwing best of music at us, attentively observing what was working and what was not.

We ordered three Kingfisher Draught beers next and realized we had been drinking wrong these past few hours. These three orders turned into three more, and that is when our bodies received the much-needed alcohol.

Kingfisher Draught

We placed an order for Noodles (INR 455) from the Bowl Meals category and Raasta Special Pizza (INR 495) in between the beer orders.

The food was served cold yet again, with the noodles being a bit dry while the thin-crust pizza was a decent eat.

Raasta played their last few tunes at 1:05 pm and the party was over by 1:15 pm. I would absolutely go there again and would recommend it if you are looking for a decent ladies night in Mumbai. If beer is your drink, definitely pay a visit.

Ladies for the Night

Overall,

Cocktails – 2/5

Straight drinks & beer – 5/5

Food – 3/5

Ambience, vibe and staff – easy 5/5
