Radio Bar Makes Its Way To Chembur

Ever heard someone say “Let’s party in Chembur!”? If not, you might hear it from today onwards! Radio Bar just opened its second outlet in the city. Located next to Bar Stock Exchange, the area of Chembur now has another great daaru adda for people to chill at.

The pub hosted a launch party on 10th December for its second outlet in Mumbai. If you have visited their Khar outlet, you will be surprised to see the Chembur one as it is bigger, the decor is different to suit the ‘all day cafe’ and ‘pub’ vibe, and the menu is different than that of the Khar outlet with more of a northern-spice touch to it.

We arrived to find the outdoors lit up, a red carpet rolled out and the valet ready to attend to us. We walked in and were fascinated with the huge floor space. The space was divided into two seating areas – the huge indoor seating area with a bar and a DJ/live music platform, and a smaller but spacious smoking seating area with its own bar for swift service. High-rise tables, sofa lounges and regular tables occupied this huge space.

We started the night with the whiskey-based Cinhattan cocktail which is a variation of the classic Manhattan, using cinnamon-infused whiskey and Rosso liqueur to add a sweet & spicy flavour to it. The drink was presented to us in an innovative way. A smoke-filled whiskey pitcher was used to pour the spirit into a glass full of crushed ice, giving out a strong aroma to us.

This cocktail was one hell of a potent order. Due to very little water mixed in it from the still solid ice, it seemed like I was drinking neat whiskey. The drink left behind some pleasant notes of the sweet-spicy cinnamon on my tastebuds.

To go with this cocktail, we ordered a serving of Smashed Avocado on Garlic Bread. The dish has roasted cherry tomatoes, sour mascarpone and smashed avocados spread on three pieces of garlic bread.

Smashed Avocado on Garlic Bread

Oh my, oh my, this was a treat to our appetite. It was the most delicious avocado appetizer I have ever tasted in the city! The spread was rich-textured and creamy, the garlic bread was perfectly baked and the taste was mild and flavourful. It was so delicious that I made a mental note of ordering another serving before calling it a night.

My colleague ordered the gin-based Imagine cocktail, which had Kokum syrup as one of the four ingredients. The cocktail was light-bodied, making it a perfect order for dinner nights. The aroma was fruity, with citrus flavours ruling the flavour profile.

To slow down our drinking pace, we ordered for a vegetarian Sambal Cottage Cheese Bao. The steamed baos were filled with soft paneer cubes with a heavy hint of sambal oelek. We took a bite and sat back with a happy heart. The baos were soft and the ingredients were as fresh as they come. A must order for a filling meal!

Next, I asked for a rum-based Tiki Tak cocktail. Taking a sip of this drink made me feel like giving up on all other cocktails; it was such a great recipe! If you are an alcohol enthusiast who is also a ginger tea person, you need to head to Chembur today and order this cocktail at Radio Bar. The cocktail has a strong ginger taste which is well-balanced by fruity pineapple flavours. A masterpiece, I would declare it.

My colleague ordered the vodka-based Kokum Together cocktail, which was her favourite of the night! It was a delicious blend of flavours with subtle notes of pineapple and honey in it. The smooth vodka made the cocktail an extremely smooth drink.

To go with the cocktails, we ordered a vegetarian pizza with grilled mushrooms, zucchini, sun-dried tomatoes, and roasted onions and asparagus as toppings (a generous serving of them, mind you). It was a thin-crust pizza which made it a perfect order for two.

To conclude our night, we ordered a Classic Tiramisu and Cointreau & Honey Flavoured Crispy Noodles with Vanilla Ice cream for dessert. The Classic Tiramisu was definitely the better of the two orders. It was soft, creamy and outright delicious.

Overall, Radio Bar has outdone itself with the Chembur outlet. The bar will establish itself as the go-to place for the people residing in the area. So, if you are around Chembur, pick up your wallet and a few of your friends, and head over to relax over some delicious cocktails and melt-in-the-mouth food!
