TASMAC or Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation, a government-owned body in Tamil Nadu, is set to launch its official online portal in the first week of August 2026. The government-owned body will make its entry into the e-commerce space for liquor retail, making liquor booking for the citizens of Tamil Nadu a much more convenient process. Let’s take a look at how the TASMAC web portal for online liquor bookings will change the way liquor bookings take place in Tamil Nadu.
The Tamil Nadu Government is set to roll out the TASMAC web portal. Named TasmacE2E.in, it is scheduled to go live on August 6, 2026. It will allow consumers to browse live inventory across more than 4,000 TASMAC outlets.
Additionally, the TASMAC web portal will also allow consumers to make digital payments and reserve liquor for pickup at a store of their choice.
The TASMAC Web Portal will not offer home delivery as of now, however, it is intended to reduce waiting at retail outlets. Moreover, the service has been introduced to curb overpricing and discourage the practice of promoting select brands, without divulging apt inventory information.

Consumers will be able to locate the nearest TASMAC stores within a 5 km to 25 km radius. They’ll also be able to place orders at outlets in other cities. Once the payment is completed, the app generates a QR code that can be presented at the selected store to collect the product(s). Any individual aged 21 years or above carrying the QR code will be eligible to collect the order.
In a related development, the Tamil Nadu government is reportedly examining the possibility of privatizing TASMAC outlets in corporations and municipalities. This is a part of the efforts to improve accountability following increased scrutiny of the state-run retailer’s operations.
If this gets approved, the move would mark the first significant shift towards private participation in Tamil Nadu’s liquor retail sector since 2003.
The proposal also comes amidst repeated instances of retailers allegedly charging consumers above the MRP. In response, the Madras High Court recently issued updated disciplinary guidelines for TASMAC employees found guilty of overcharging, including provisions for dismissal in cases of repeated violations. The court has also stated that each store has to mandatorily maintain their bill records and produce a bill for every liquor bottle sold.
While home delivery has not been introduced yet, only West Bengal and Odisha are the two states in India offering home delivery of liquor products. Now whether Tamil Nadu allows home delivery through the TASMAC web portal remains unclear. However, the web portal will definitely make ordering liquor easier and more convenient for consumers in Tamil Nadu.
