After hearing a lot about The Little Easy from a friend, I was looking forward to attending their Ladies Night – ‘Girls Like You’, this Wednesday. As it was located at a walkable distance from our new office, my colleague and I strolled right on over around 9:30 p.m.
The Little Easy turned out to be a cozy space with a few tables and booths and a compact dance floor in front of the bar. We settled in and enquired about their complimentary drinks.
We were told that the bar offers a Kamikaze shot every hour to all the ladies present. A quick calculation concluded that each lady would get 3 shots, starting at 10 pm and ending at 1 am.
While we waited for the clock to strike 10, we placed an order for Pack-A-Penne Cacophony pasta (INR 445). Expectantly looking at the bar in anticipation of our first round, we saw the head bartender pouring in shots. My colleague went in to make a Boomerang while I observed our surroundings.
The tables had some young couples on a date night, a few men chit-chatting with their videsi colleague and a group of ladies having a get-together over some wine.
My observation was cut short when my colleague returned and our pasta arrived. The sauce was creamy but the dish lacked flavour. This pasta was held together by its sauce and I wish it was the case in the most literal sense as well. The cream didn’t seem to stick to the pasta, which just made each bite blander than the next.
One of the wait staff had served us our shots while we were gobbling our food up. And guess what? My colleague received a complimentary shot from the head bartender Hiren for the beautiful Boomerang she made!
Well, alright. No hard feelings there, bruh
We downed our shots in a second. And because life seemed purposeless after, we ordered two pints of Kingfisher Ultra.
The music had started to pick up by now, and more young couples started to fill up the tables around us. We started to groove to the music and other people started to dance around their tables and in front of the bar. It was interesting to watch men trying to impress their dates with their dance moves as one guy repeated the two hand moves and one chest move he knew throughout his 30 minute-long stint and another guy kneeled down to impersonate a loveable aashiq trying to woo his girl. When I witnessed this, I lost my composure and had to sit down to giggle like a stupid person.
We realized another hour had passed when the second round of shots were brought to our table.
We sat down to take a small break and ended up discussing french fries and how they were a godsent. This intense discussion led to us ordering a serving of The Homie Fries (INR 295). The Fries were cheesy yet crispy and because they abided by my colleague’s request of having Peri Peri seasoning on the side, we loved this simple order.
Before we could stuff our faces with a thousand fries, the DJ played Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare, bringing all the Bollywood lovers to the dance floor to imitate Govinda’s golden moves. Amidst some classic old-time hits, Ritviz’s Udd Gaye song created a wave amongst the dancers.
We stopped for our third round of shots, a mouthful of fries and a restroom break before taking to the dance floor again. The night ended with us busting some typical Bollywood moves over some super typical Bollywood songs.
To conclude our night, if your idea of fun is to drink light and dance to Punjabi and Bollywood hits, The Little Easy is for you.
Overall, the food was decent. While the fries were great, the pasta lacked flavour. The music was filmy, paying tribute to Bollywood classics from the late 90s and playing the most recent Punjabi hits, and the bar staff as well as the wait staff was polite and fun, appearing to be better dancers than most of us.
The only drawback seems to be their complimentary shots. We would want more than just three Kamikaze shots to make the most out of an outing at The Little Easy. It would have been an amazing night if we could have had a little more to get tipsy on.
