What is a Michelada?

The summer in Mumbai is well and truly gone. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a cool cocktail to stay absolutely chill.

In case you’re looking, we’re here to make that search less time-consuming. We have the Mexicans and their Michelada to be thankful for.

Cocktails just don’t get any better when it comes to the Micheladas. While there is never a bad time to sip on this thirst quencher, this drink is best relished basking in the sunshine.

And don’t you worry about nursing a hangover, as the Michelada makes sure that your head doesn’t spin after a few drinks. Talk about a win-win situation.

So, what’s in a name?

The Mexicans sure got it spot on when they thought of naming this drink. Mi means mine, chela is the local usage for beer, the ada from helada stands for cold, and voila, what you get is their version of “my cold beer”!

One of the simplest cocktails you’ll ever make

To begin with, you need a nice chilled beer. While one might not be able to savour what the Mexicans use, Corona for us Indians works just fine to make a Michelada. You’ll need some lime for the tanginess and tomato juice to go with it. No Mexican dish or drink would be complete without its fair bit of sauces and one sees the same here as well. You don’t just have Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce to choose from, there’s Maggi sauce as well (can you believe it guys?).

We’ve always been one for the practical over theory. So if you’re like us, we’ve got a video to make things simple too.

You’re now on your way to enjoying the best of beer cocktails. Cheers!
